  1. So, I am getting very old and not likely to accomplish much, but promoting the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child [CLICK] seems worth while
Are you aware that the U.S. is the only nation that has refused to recognize children's rights? Why? Because parents, like slave owners of old, are not to be deprived of their property.
Since I was not born in this country, I have never been owned. That is also true of the DACA children, as well as the child migrants who got disappeared into the foster care system.
The parentalrights.org people explain it well. 2/3 of the Senate need to ratify for it to go into effect. That's according to the Constitution; not a filibuster rule.
Can we get Senate candidates to make it a campaign issue?

    1. Yes to all of the above, Hannah. I think incest is also due to the notion of parents OWNING their children, as well.

Time to start looking more closely in the gardens!

And! TWO rare species were found in two successive net swipes! First one species, then the other. So cool.

  3. I miss puddle, and Catreona, and it would be sweet to hear from Renee more.
It was good to hear from Bill the other day, as he's been quiet and I wondered if he were okay.

This little Dean community has been together a long time. I hope we keep on.

    1. Dean never appreciated the grass roots. His tenure at the DNC was ineffective in terms of recruiting and training good public servants.
Obama was no better. After his election, he paid scant attention to the volunteers, even when they provided cash.
However, the internet selection and promotion of candidates for office continues to grow to the point that the press has figured out that if they do not recruit readers/viewers, they are not going to survive. The party operatus is already defunct. IMAGINE, while seeking the Georgia governorship, Stacey Abrams is soliciting support for Witmer

  4. New COVID Vaccines Will be Ready This Fall. America Won’t. [Click] I anticipate wearing a face mask when out and about for the foreseeable future; but will be among the first in line for any new vaccine.

    1. Thanks for posting this. It sound like the bivalent vaccine may be so distant that maybe I should go ahead and get my second booster.

    2. It's taking too long. I had my 2nd booster dose on April 1st! I'm wearing masks everywhere, and also expect to for a long time.

    3. Yes, go get the second booster, Bill.

  5. Predicted high temperature today and tomorrow 110F; then it will cool off to a mere 107F for a day or two. I'm starting to get tired of this, although it is far from unprecedented in Fresno at this time of year.

With the devastating heatwave in Europe, I keep thinking how dangerous it must be that most of the people in England do not have air conditioning.

  8. Secret Service’s January 6 text messages story has shifted several times, panel is told [Click] It’s an old observation that it’s easier to tell the truth because you don’t have to remember how you told it before. I’d bet a fiver that copies of the messages are preserved somewhere.

  9. After lunch I threw the compostables onto the compost heap; the weeds have really been growing like weeds, but it is just too hot to be extirpating them. All in good time.

    2. There is one kind that stands particularly upright, shrugs off weed killer and must be eradicated rather than extirpated.
