  1. Re previous thread: The GoFundMe account for that young Indiana man who rescued the kids from the house fire is going great guns. There is said to be a Facebook fundraiser too.

    1. There is a proposed rail link from Russia to India via Iran, but currently the link through Azerbaijan or Armenia is not available. This requires a rail to ship to rail transfer across the Caspian Sea.

    2. Pollsters, IMHO, are desperate to maintain the binar system on which their revenue depends. So, they are making stuff up. Here in Georgia, even public radio is beholden to the pollsters. That voters really prize the secret ballot and do not want people to know how they voted does not seem to register.
I recently got a solicitation from the Georgia Attorney General obviously based on the fact that I voted Republican in the primary to insure that the attack on Raffensperger would not work.

    1. It seems that a lot of people take an awfully crabbed view of the word "neighbor," as in "Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour."

  5. I was perusing the news about heat waves, with photos of people coping with the heat. I never fail to be amazed by how many people think that dispensing with as much clothing as is marginally decent is a smart adaptation to hot and sunny weather. If that were smart, wouldn't the Bedouin go about that way? They have one or two layers of light (often cotton) clothing covering their bodies almost completely. (I think a wide-brimmed hat would be a good addition, but that can be caught by the wind and blown away.) Personally, I am averse to sunburn as well.

      I’m with you on that!
I have an ultra light cotton 3/4 sleeve blouse that I save for hot days that beg a little cover up.
