I was remembering watching Elizabeth's coronation on TV--in black and white. And here she is at her 70th Jubilee reception, on the Internet, in color. And then it occurred to me that the lead photo for today's BBC video about Boris Johnson's problems this week (scroll down nearly to the bottom of the first page at bbc.com) is a fake photo of him falling into a hole in the street in front of No. 10 Downing Street--IN BLACK AND WHITE!
Temperatures in the sixties F today, very slight overcast thinning as the day progressed, very slight wind from the mountains. Naomi and I went sketching at the zoo; I wore my long johns, but could have done without them. When we arrived at the zoo about 10:30 the parking areas near the entrance were full; when we left about 1:15 PM the lines were huge and there was not a single parking spot within sight. Sunday, improved weather, and people wanting to get out of the house, I suppose. We both worked on trees (different ones) and a rhinoceros. When we left the warthogs were all napping together in a den just the right size for the lot of them
Alan previouly asked whether Capricon is a goat convention. Yes. Its mascot, Capricious, is a humanized goat always present at Opening and closing ceremonies. And the password to access the virtual aspects of the con is goats-in-space. Although it's also true that Capricon 1 happened the yeat that Capricon Seven was a hit movie
