We put the washed grapes out into the sun around midday, and when I moved them into the garage as they were starting be be shaded a bit, maybe around 6PM, about half of them were beginning to turn brown. Those wheeled folding tables I built for drying them sure do look rickety, but they have held up pretty well.
Me and my big mouth! One of the tables collapsed as I was moving it out of the garage this morning. Got it patched up and back to work in about an hour.
Interesting that this assessment comes from the UK, and that clearly everything that happened in Afghanistan was from intelligence and discernment of multi nations, not just because of President Biden making a decision.
One thing that impresses me no end is that generations on we are still dealing with the consequences of Britain's massively bungled devolution of its empire.
And the Brits also mucked up the devolution of the Ottoman Empire. Incidentally, the government of the Ottoman Empire was unlike that of any nation today-- absolutely fascinating.
We drove to and from NH today to visit the 3 grands who recently moved away from VT. It's a very nice place...the same house Mom grew up in, same neighbourhood friends and schools. So they're setting in quickly. Good thing, too, as their youngest (age 3) is having her tonsils out mid-Sept. We had a little double birthday celebration. So much silly fun!

DeleteHoping the tables make it through another season (and another…).
Oh, they will.

Sorry, Charlie; everyone DID NOT get it wrong.

DeleteToo big fails.

DeleteThat wasn't just the Brits. The French and at least nominally the US were involved in decisions about the Ottoman Empire.
DeleteAlso the Italians and others.

ReplyDeleteGee--they don't remove the tonsils with the gay abandon that was common when we (I at least) were young.
