COW BELL at the Orchard

  1. The California region where Covid ‘just isn’t slowing down.’ [Click] The state has the country’s lowest case rate. But in the vaccine-resistant Central Valley and rural north, healthcare workers are pushed to the limit.

Yesterday the vaccination line wasn’t long. My vaccination site hurt a bit, but a dose of acetaminophen before bed took care of that well enough. I had a good response—- I don’t know if it was before or after I fell asleep, but I had a spot of chills and trembling, turned on the electric blanket, and had a very good night’s sleep.

    1. How does this response compare to your response to the second dose?

Wil and I get our booster shots on Monday.
Our precautionary Covid tests of Monday came back negative this morning.

I am looking forward to the trip to Cape Cod to catch up on my email while Wil drives.

Getting out to Nantucket Island also now looks doubtful, as Hurricane Sam is expected to generate “significant swells” making ferry passage unwise or impossible (especially during Covid).

    2. Stronger response; as I recall, the second time I just had a little pain at the injection site (if I pushed on it).

    3. About 26 hours since the vaccination now, and the ache in the vicinity of the injection site is gone, but I am very drowsy.

    1. Now about 33 hours since booster vaccination, and my torpor seems to be resolving.
