  1. Forgot to mention that as a reward for saving his chestnuts, the ex gave me a reward--20% of what he almost paid the scammer. Told him was not required, he insisted, so I accepted.

    1. Oh, that was your ex? I thought it might have been a neighbor.

    2. Well, would have given the same info and advice to a neighbor, but did *insist* a bit more and longer that he call our kid and find out where our grandkid was. Which was in his room playing video games, not in jail in NYC.

    1. After being out in the world yesterday where we and maybe 3 other people were wearing masks, I am grateful for this article.

    2. It is certainly a caution. Vaccination rates are low hereabouts, and the Delta variant of Covid has arrived. Such places will be factories for the evolution of further variants. Get back to me next spring about whether or not I plan to dispense with masks and social distancing. Socializing with friends who are fully vaccinated seems likely to be all right.

    1. There are places in the Himalayas where very many males must be away for much of the year, trading to make a living, and polyandry has traditionally been accepted.

  5. US fight against Covid threatened by growing vaccine gap in the south [Click] “Less than 50% of adults in Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana have received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.”

Significant portions of California are in the same boat. National vaccination map, county by county [Click] Link is centered on Central California, but I think it can be moved anywhere in the US.

    1. Thanks for that, Alan. Looks like 5 Million+ are fully vaccinated in Ohio. Problem is that the state population is estimated at 11.7 Million. Lots of trumpers and stupid people here. Still wearing a mask until the 12th of Never.

    2. Our alleged US Representative is a fellow by the name of Devin Nunes. Does that tell you anything?

  6. Things like this are why I still use Facebook:

"It must be really hard for people learning to spell in English...for example, there's one silent K in "Knight", four silent K's in "Knickknack" and three silent K's in "Republican".

First cruise ship set to sail from a U.S. port since the pandemic [and several more scheduled] [Click] I expect that more likely sooner rather than later one (or more) of those ships will turn into a floating plague pit. I expect that the crew still mingles in their quarters, and the ventilation systems couldn't have been altered significantly.

Senator Mike Gravel has passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at his home in Seaside, California. He was 91.
