UPDATE! Cause was blood oxygen of 80. Turns out that waiting does NOT fix crummy arterial feeds Still in hospital, trying to work out how to get him to a better/bigger, hospital where the surgery can be done. Don't stop praying, please. . . . <3
Be careful of the cardiologists. The one called in for me determined I have leaky valves. When I objected to having them fixed, he prescribed three pills and told me to see him in a year. That was in 2019. Then came 2020 when they had no interest in "elective surgery.". So, I just keep renewing the pills when I run out and reduce yard work to two hours . Youngest had a blood clot that went from leg to lung last spring. Too much sitting, working from home. Meds cleared it. My mother, in her nineties, experienced periodic dementia as a result of tiny clots in the frontal lobes. When they dissolved, she became lucid again. That kind of thing must be really hard to deal with in a care facility. Hope your son has arranged for a medical power of attorney. Without it the medecine men will just do what's best for them.
On the way home from San Jose on Saturday, Naomi was driving along a very good four-lane divided highway with a very wide grassy median, a little behind a group of cars and trucks in both lanes, everyone doing about 80 mph (common and reasonably safe there). A shiny new oversize pickup came zooming by us, driving recklessly (well, the driver was driving, not the pickup itself) and tried to force its way through the group of other vehicles, zooming up behind in one lane and then the other, trying to force its way into too-small gaps. Naomi dropped well back. One or two cars gave way, and then, as the pickup again swerved to the left, its left rear tire exploded! Little bits of tire scattered all over the roadway, and the pickup went off into the median and came to a stop, without rolling over or hitting any obstruction. We just kept on going, as did all the other cars. It occurred to me that such driving is often reported in cases of methamphetamine abuse.

Cat, you and your sister both look a lot like your Mother. She will always be a part of you as you carry her genes within you. It's a hard loss and I'm sorry for your pain.

ReplyDeleteMom's obituary - Click
ReplyDeleteCat, your Mom's so pretty. I'm sad she died. It does sound like she had a full life.
DeleteYou must have been young when your father died. That's rough. So good that your now-Dad came along.
Thank you for posting Mom's obit. My grandparents lived in Quincy (James and Catherine Meade) and were devout Roman Catholics. Small world.
Any chance you are related to Marty Walsh, Mayor of Boston? He's a good guy.
Sending love as you do all the last things, and grieve. ❤️🩹
Thank you for sharing, Cat.
