Slime report: money was supposed to be delivered at 8 a.m. this morning. Fake lawyer called shortly after that to tell him that Tonio had had breakfast and they were getting ready to release him, and they'd get his money back to him, fer shur. Was told to go jump off a cliff. Called *again* --I think he hadn't quite figured all had not gone as planned. . . . fedex said it would be returned Monday or Tuesday since it's no longer overnight. . . .
Good luck, puddle. As for "overnight," "overnight" deliveries from San Francisco to Fresno seem to take about three days, by either USPS or FedEx. By car it takes about three hours.
Just now read the summary on the previous thread; sure does sound like a stroke of luck to use FedEx. It ought to be educational, as long as the wrong lesson is not learned.
I'm a little sad that the red and white stripes aren't as obvious when one first arrives and looks over to the carousel. It always elicited squeals of delight from the grands. But I am grateful that they did this because it's an antique and needs to be protected. Also, it will provide more shade.
Nothing, but they don't have those fangs for nothing, and the dominant males have very pronounced libidos (I don't consider bonobos quite the same as chimpanzees). [grin]
These are the countries in the G7: • UK • US • Canada • France • Germany • Italy • Japan This year the UK has the Presidency of the G7, which the member countries take turns to hold. Leaders from additional countries will also be attending the G7 Summit as guest countries invited by the UK. These are India, Australia, South Korea and South Africa. Representatives from the EU will also be at the Summit.

Hi guys, sorry I haven't been around for a while. Not feeling well, in any sense of that term. Physical therapy evaluation coming up on Wednesday. Hope I can make it till then. Seems like it's getting harder and more painful to walk by the day.
The only thing I've been able to concentrate on is reading Star Trek novels, which is a pleasant diversion. Strangely, the "Star Trek Books" subcategory of Literature at Fun Trivia contains only mixed quizzes, no quizzes on individual novels. Another gap for me to fill when I feel well enough to write quizzes. Checking Westerns I also see, to my surprise, there are no quizzes on "Riders of the Purple Sage" or "The Rainbow Trail". How can you have a Westerns section without quizzes on Zane Grey's best known novels? Sometimes the lacuna on Fun Trivia really puzzle me.
❤️ As my granddaughter would say: "Ohhhh mannn!!!"
🙁 I'm sad that you're not feeling well, Cat. I hope PT gives you a plan on Weds. Meanwhile, good for you finding something to help you wait and, better yet, a new niche for your considerable experience and skill! Rock on, Catreona!!

DeleteThe carousel looks loverly and the new pavilion, dandy.

DeleteHmmmm. . . the pavillion could have red and white stripes too.
DeleteIt might have, Alan, but for some reason they went with shingles (and the very top is metal). I doubt they'd paint shingles, so this is the new deal.
DeleteThe various standard railway stations of the Southern Pacific Railway had painted shingles--a particular shade of green. But a solid color.
DeleteHorizontal gene transfers between eukaryotic organisms— presumably including humans! [Click] Wow!
ReplyDeleteRight after posting this, I had a naughty thought: might it be that Donald Trump has acquired a baboon or chimpanzee gene by this mechanism?
DeleteWhat? Slandering baboons and chimpanzees? What have they ever done to you?
DeleteNothing, but they don't have those fangs for nothing, and the dominant males have very pronounced libidos (I don't consider bonobos quite the same as chimpanzees). [grin]

You are the only quizologist I know, Cat.
