    1. It seems that the original article in the New York Times is not behind a paywall. It's worth a read.

  5. So Penny and I got our second Covid-19 vaccines this morning. No side effects so far.

And the monthly meeting of the Disability Pride Parade planning committee has just concluded. The parade, scheduled as usual for the July Saturday just prior to the anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act, will be virtual this year. The theme, which I suggested, will be "Pandemic can't kill disability price." The registration fee for those who want to submit videos or other material for inclusion is $10, but we will also be reaching out for donations. The web site, disabilityprideparade.org should be updated by this time tomorrow.

  6. Arwa Mahdawi: Like many people, I’ve long been addicted to using Jeff Bezos’s company. But now it seems it really is time to leave it alone [Click] Wonderful quotation:

“Under communism you buy everything from a single state outlet. Whereas under fully mature capitalism you buy everything from Amazon.”

  7. Value judgment: Donald Trump tumbles down billionaires’ rankings. [Click] Deutsche Bank, Ladder Capital, and his Russian friends have not yet come to collect for their loans, and Melania has not yet exercised her post-nuptial options. After all of those, he will be lucky if they give him a nice little trailer up a side road in Arkansas. As for him losing about a billion dollars, I am reminded of what Nelson Bunker Hunt said after losing billions [Click] in his attempt to corner the silver market: “A billion dollars isn’t what it used to be.” [in 1980, when a billion dollars was equal to roughly three billion 2020 dollars.]
