That 'murder hornet' nest scientists found and destroyed had nearly 200 queens. They say they got there 'just in the nick of time'

  2. Vermont: 2651 (+116)😫
    544 active cases
    59deaths (6days)
    Recovered 1958(+11)
    In Hospital 19(+5) 5 ICU
    Tests 197,619 (+1,338)

Word today is 109 new cases. That’s bad enough...worst ever here. However, subtracting yesterday’s total (2535) from today’s = 116! I wish someone would explain this, as it happens often.

  5. What a pretty photo.

    MOM UPDATE:

Things looking slightly better. Mom had a quiet night last night. She has been eating a little: Thin oatmeal with raisins for breakfast, a clementine (small orange) and some cheese for a snack, and her coffee frappe in the afternoon. Broth is planned for supper.

Dad has been wrestling with the official end of things. The practice Mom had been going to for years closed this summer (without so much as sending out a letter to patients! So, Dad had already been chasing around, trying to find a new doctor for her, but noone in the area is taking new patients. Then this happened, and no agency or company etc. can do anything without a doctor's say so. He ghinkx he's finally found someone. Keep fingers crossed that the tele-appointment scheduled for tomorrow morning works out so things can go forward with getting her the care she needs.

  6. It's really good that a doctor will finally be seeing your mom, even if only virtually. I'm a little shocked that her previous doctor went away without making any sort of arrangements for his patients' care. Penny's and my doctor retired in July, but we got a letter offering us a choice of two other doctors in the same group. I haven't yet done the research to decide which one we want.

    1. What Bill said about the doctor evidently just skedaddling. Even if s/he had suddenly died, one would expect the office secretary to notify patients.

    2. The front office was always lackadaisical. That's why I left last year. They didn't send referrals, they never got the billing right or even which pharmacy to send the prescriptions to. But Mum liked her P.A. But, yeah, majorly unprofessional in my view.

    3. I'm glad Mom has been able to eat and is resting a little better. Hopefully the doctor can get things happening for her that may help. (In my experience, the ER docs are able to get treatment started if needed, and a doctor can be found from there. Also, hospitals get preference over individuals as regards any placement in a rehab or nursing facility. So there are some benefits to going to the hospital if the doctor recommends it and your Mom agrees.
      Prayers ensuing, Cat. =HUG= XOXOXXX
