  3. Biden’s National Lead Doubles
October 4, 2020 By Taegan Goddard

Joe Biden’s national lead over President Donald Trump nearly doubled after Tuesday’s presidential debate, with voters saying by a 2-to-1 margin that Biden has the better temperament to be president, according to a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.

Biden is now ahead of Trump by 14 points among registered voters, 53% to 39% — up from his 8-point lead in the previous poll before the debate.

Said pollster Jeff Horwitz: “The clear loser from the debate was Donald Trump.”

"Dr Brian Garibaldi’s statement that Trump may be OK to return home to the White House may come back to haunt the administration. If Trump isn’t released tomorrow, it will appear his condition has worsened. There is speculation it is Trump himself who is pushing for an early release."

Expert reacts to latest briefing by Trump’s doctors

Dr Krutika Kuppalli, an infectious disease physician at the Medical University of South Carolina, is among those with questions following the latest briefing of the president’s doctors.

She is one of those trying to understand how the president might be discharged tomorrow after he has been experiencing oxygen level drops and is on steroids.

Kuppalli also makes the point steroids can cause delirium or confusion in patients and says she is “curious as to why @VP is not currently in charge”.

      Dr.Krutika Kuppalli (@KrutikaKuppalli)

Just as a recap, #Trump has received the following (AFAIK)

      - REGN-COV2
      - Remdesivir
      - Decadron

This does not sound like a person who was admitted to #WalterReedMedicalCenter as a "precaution". These are heavy duty medications being given to a person who is likely pretty sick.

One thing for everyone to remember, steroids suppress the ability for the body to mount a febrile response. So now that @realDonaldTrump is on Decadron saying that "he didn't have a fever" really tells us nothing.

We need to understand how he is doing clinically

  10. Biden Expands His Lead In Another National Poll
October 4, 2020 By Taegan Goddard

A new Yahoo News/YouGov poll finds Joe Biden leads Donald Trump nationally by 8 percentage points, 48% to 40%. The previous poll had Biden ahead by 5 points.

Among registered voters who watched the first presidential debate, 46% said Biden won; only 28% said the same of Trump.

The president’s hectoring performance — 59% of debate watchers rated it as “poor,” compared to only 32% for Biden — was followed by a collapse in his support among likely independent voters.

  12. I keep forgetting to mention that I was kind of surprised to find 14 Presidential candidates to choose from on the Vermont ballot. The best part was that the list was alphabetical; so Biden was first on the list and DT was 13th. The only name after DT's was Kanye West. Ha!

It is well known that when people aren't sure whom to vote for they most often choose one of the first three names. LOL!

    5. Folks just need to meet the requirement. We in Vermont trust that people will do the due diligence and vote responsibly. But I do think it's hysterical that the online sample ballot has the names out of order with DT's name first and Biden's second. So if someone were to think the real ballot will look just like that and they want to vote for DT, they might think they're supposed to tick off that first box, and not look before they leap. 😆

    1. Wow. Weird that they're updating his obit. I do think that's a bit premature, or at least it shouldn't be advertised.

A friend of ours was a hostage in Beirut. Jerry Levin had been CNN's Beirut Bureau Chief when he was kidnapped by the Hezbollah on Ash Weds. He became the first of the "forgotten hostages." After he was able to escape nearly a year later (on Valentine's Day), he made the rounds to tell his story. He always began with the news clip that CNN had produced about him, which was actually his obituary tribute. It ended, "Jeremy Levin, dead at the age of....." He would then stand up and quote Mark Twain, "Reports of my death were greatly exaggerated." LOL!

    2. updating the obituaries of prominent people is a routine part of journalism. CNN goofed in not removing that last line, of course.

"Via Twitter, Dr. James P. Phillips, an attending physician at Walter Reed, said the president’s choice of conveyance presented its own problems.

“That presidential SUV is not only bulletproof, but hermetically sealed against chemical attack,” Phillips wrote. “The risk of COVID-19 transmission inside is as high as it gets outside of medical procedures. The irresponsibility is astounding.”

Phillips wrote in an earlier tweet that the agents in the car would now need to be quarantined for 14 days after having been put at risk of severe illness or death “for political theater.”
