Because of having to switch phone lines between the phone and the computer, the little ends keep breaking and I have to keep replacing phone lines. Last trip Cooter replaced the line to the 5008 number, but had a hard time. Repair guy came, outside line fine, inside jack, fine, phone fine. Replaced the line, so good to go now after a week. And they're not charging me! (First time in 60 years it's been an inside problem.)

puddle--if I understand your problem solution, it sounds like you need a splitter so more than one thing can be connected to the line at the same time without plugging and unplugging. If you have an ADSL line, you will also need a bandpass filter (they call it something else, but that's what it is) to keep the digital signal from going to the phone.
Smoke continues to get thinner (it became noticeable yesterday), and the clouds (we can really see real clouds!) are consistent with the predicted oncoming cold front, which with a little luck may blow away the smoke--or at least some of it.
I used ti gave have just one line and a splitter. We got a second number and line to try ti assure I actually gad ONE working line. That when the plugging/unplugging problem began. If I only have one line and it goes, I'm pretty helpless. since I don't drive any more.
Similar to why I insist on an actual landline rather than VOIP. If the phone goes out I have internet and if the internet goes out (as it did today) I have the phone. Of course I have cell service now days, so maybe that's two belts in addition to the suspenders.
Reportage re Harris and Pence generally seems to meet my expectations. I note that the [male] Republican talking heads are calling Harris "arrogant." That must be their new version of "uppity."

Goldman Sachs: A Democratic sweep would mean faster economic recovery

That's interesting. So much for Republicans being good for business.
DeleteThe stock market typically rises during the 30 days after a Democratic president is inaugurated and falls after a Republican is inaugurated.

DeleteGreat debate!
ReplyDeleteHarris is doing really well.
Pence seems vacant.
A fly landed on Pence's hair and he didn't notice it. EVERYONE else did, though.
DeleteHe also had a bloodshot eye...hmmm, vascular...
I saw a Facebook post about "a fly on his head" but had no clue what it was about. The post didn't reference the debate at all.
