============================================ Trump Challenged to Release College Transcripts August 13, 2020 By Taegan Goddard
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) responded to President Trump’s insult calling her a “poor student” by challenging him to release his own college transcripts. Said the freshman lawmaker: “Let’s make a deal, Mr. President: You release your college transcript, I’ll release mine, and we’ll see who was the better student.” She added: “Loser has to fund the Post Office.” =============================================
OHIO: As of Thursday afternoon, there have been at least 105,426 confirmed or probable cases in the state, 3,755 deaths, and 12,023 hospitalizations, according to the Ohio Department of Health.
Big Majority Says Country Is Off the Rails August 13, 2020 By Taegan Goddard
A new Monmouth poll finds 22% of the public says the country is headed in the right direction while 72% says it is on the wrong track. The “wrong track” number has been above 70% since early June.
Another essay (behind a paywall) suggests that Harris could not do well in the Democratic primary because she couldn’t fit into any of the identifiable factions or channels, but will do well in the general election because that confounds the GOP and leaves her free to prosecute whatever theory of the case will work.
The linked headline sounds spot on to me. BTW, remind you of a recent Democratic presidential nominee? "I don't need Sanders voters!" As I recall, she lost that one. Looks to me like Biden has Clintonitis but good. Those few of his ads I've seen have actually said, "Vote for me because I'm not Trump." That's it. Even Clinton wasn't quite that blatant. She did occasionally offer an idea or two. But seeing how America's placed, Biden clearly reckons he doesn't have to do anything at all, except of course spit on the Democratic wing. Oh, no, he doesn't need those pesky lefties. He's going to sail to electoral victory on the waves of moderate Dems and Bushies for Biden and the like. Ugh! It makes me ill!
Yes, I find it strange that when people were talking about the pros and cons of potential VP candidates the potential "birther distraction" was used against Duckworth but not Harris.
Mum, Sis and I received our ballots today and voted this evening. They'll go out in tomorrow's mail. Nice to beat the rush. The primary officially takes place on September First.
It would be nice if I could tell you I'd been away all his time doing really exciting thing. However, mostly I've been sleeping and reading (nothing deep) and getting through the day the best I can. That does include listening to Neil Sedaka's daily mini concerts, which he started in April. I'm hooked, and so are a lot of other people around the world. Between YouTube and FB, each day's concert gets thousands of views and likes. So, Monday through Friday, Neil's the anchor of my day. Also watch a lot of kitty videos, and that helps too.
I have been working the past week or so on a video request for an Engelbert song called "Follow My Heartbeat" with lyrics. While I've fulfilled a couple requests before, I haven't made a video including lyrics. It's been such a long time since I last used my image and video software that the first several days were spent relearning. Then I kept finding errors and things that could be done better. Then I wasted some time experimenting with different proportions for my rectangles. Then I got a brilliant idea for a mini video segment... I really want to get the thing finished and done and uploaded this weekend. Got a number of quizzes to work on, and a couple of single questions for Fun Trivia.
I don't know where the summer went. It's sort of one long lost weekend.
BTW I am not happy with Biden's VP pick. But then, I'm not happy with Biden, so it hardly matters.
Now to go do some watercolor experiments in simulation of Hunter's Green, but lightfast. I will be trying mixtures of aurolein (yellow) with Russian Blue and French Ultramarine.
We had a sky full of clouds and lower temperatures today (less than 100 deg), even a trace of rain in the evening (you wouldn't have noticed it if you weren't outside at the time). That was due to the remnants of a tropical storm. Tomorrow we start a run of 105-108 degree days. The city will open its cooling centers tomorrow. People are warned to get inside by 10AM if they can.

Hi, Cat! It's all OK, as long as you didn't go for a ride on a tornado or something else involving extreme prejudice.

ReplyDeleteMake that 108 to 111 degrees; I just double-checked.
