  2. WaPo: Barbara Lee for VP [Click] I fully expect Biden to settle on a clintonista/New Democrat for his running mate, but I would definitely vote for a Biden/Lee ticket. (Sorry, Howie.) Not that I think the Dem establishment gives a rat’s ass about my vote.

    1. Well, Alan, WAPO (and NYT) won't let me past their paywall to read the article, so I looked up Barbara Lee on Wikipedia. Very impressive.

Incidentally, the Wikipedia article claims that Lee was the only member of Congress to vote against the use of force in the Iraq War following 9/11 ... which is, of course, not true. Perhaps they meant to say she was the only member of Congress from California to vote against it? (Even that sounds far fetched.) At any rate, like Bernie and others, she voted against it.

She does sound good. I hope Biden takes another look.

    1. Yes, as I commented on FB the police have now become an occupying army and we, the civilians, are their enemy and their target.

What I did NOT say, because it would have been totally inappropriate, but I will say here is that for a moment I thought of the old Emily Litella skits on SNL. The police heard "violins" and thought it was "violence". Sometimes my internal Good Editor does work.

But, in any event, I am horrified by the police responses all over this country. They really do seem like an occupying army intent on shutting down any voices.

  5. James Fallows: The 3 Weeks That Changed Everything [Click] “Imagine if the National Transportation Safety Board investigated America’s response to the coronavirus pandemic.” A lengthy, but IMO good analysis of the complete screw-up. I have worked in organizations (one successful, one dysfunctional) that were big enough that their only practical method of operation was bureaucratic. This all rings true to me.

    1. The vaccine itself will likely work for those who get it. (I plan to!) But we won’t reach herd immunity unless most people get vaccinated, and there is resistance.
