We had a fifteen-minute power outage, and when it came back on our Earthlink e-mail server seemed to be down. Presumably they will have it fixed sometime during the night.
Trump admits it: He's losing. [Click] “Under the current trajectory, President Trump is on the precipice of one the of the worst electoral defeats in modern presidential elections and the worst historically for an incumbent president,” said former Trump political adviser Sam Nunberg.
Nunberg pointed to national polls released by CNBC and New York Times/Siena over the past week showing Trump receiving below 40 percent against Biden.
If Trump's numbers against erode to 35 percentage points over the next two weeks, Nunberg added, “He’s going to be facing realistically a 400-plus electoral vote loss and the president would need to strongly reconsider whether he wants to continue to run as the Republican presidential nominee.”
I am thinking of McGovern. Granted, that is probably overly optimistic. But with a bit of luck he will take the Republican Party into the dustbin with him.
What disturbs me most (and the article does not address) is DT’s sentence with Joe Biden’s name in it. I fear what one of his his frenzied supporters might take upon themselves to do.
I had the very same thought, listener. It doesn't rise to the level of "Will no one rid me of this turbulent priest?" but given the current tensions it comes too damned close.
I don’t know what he thinks exactly, but I do know he is incapable of caring about anyone but himself. So whether or not he knew something or understood it matters not. It wouldn’t chance his actions one bit.
OHIO; As of Sunday afternoon, there have been at least 50,309 confirmed or probable cases in the state, 2,807 deaths, and 7,681 hospitalizations, according to the Ohio Department of Health.
Governor DeWine and the Heath Department are increasingly concerned at the rise of positive cases.
Thinking about GOP nominating convention in Jacksonville, it seems to me that they will be bringing people who are selected for resistance to precautionary measures into an area with an epidemic bloom. They will bring in cases of coronavirus, pick up more from locals and other visitors, then distribute the virus to wherever they came from. In short, a super superspreader event. Or maybe better a super-duper spreader event. From the convention to the election is roughly four times the 95% incubation period. And each person with the virus spreads it to how many others— three? Five? That could be a lot of people infected, and all over the country.
I went outside to dump the compost bucket and the air was smokey. I came back in and checked the newspaper to see if there was a story about a grass fire (there isn't), and found this coronavirus update:
It seems the number of cases and hospitalizations has increased together with the number of cars on the streets, but the number of ICU patients has remained about the same.
Yep. We shall continue to use masks and maintain social distance for quite a while. We also minimize contacts while doing necessary shopping or rare visiting.

DeleteMcGovern’s ending was milquetoast next to what is likely here.
DeleteMcGovern won only Massachusetts, with 17 electoral votes. The country was significantly less polarized than it is today.

People going to that convention must be required to quarantine when they return!
