  1. Thanks Alan and Listener for the info on bleach. Yes, Alan, I'd be interested in reading the paper.

Bill, I'm glad to hear that Newman looks to have won her district. Chawk up another victory for DFA.

  2. Ohio now has 89 confirmed cases. Up from 67 yesterday. All BMV's but five are being closed and cops are being asked not to ticket expired licenses since there is not way for people to get an updated license. I expect my next cataract surgery to be postponed for quite a long while.

  3. The "Dialogue" at the top of the thread gave me a good chuckle when Sis read it to me the other day. When she first mentioned the idear, this is what I thought of:

Diana Ross: Reach out and touch somebody's hand
    CDC: Please don't!
Diana Ross: Make this world a better place if you can
    CDC: That's what I said. Don't touch!

    1. I was thinking of ordering a ham, actually. I just don’t need it quite yet.

  5. Analysis: US must face coronavirus recession in ‘Lockdown Paradox’: To save economy, shut it down fast. I'm posting this even though I think the top-line analysis is flatly wrong. There is no hope of actually containing the virus. What people are trying to do is spread out the impact, having the disruption last much longer in order to avoid a sharp peak that it is feared would overwhelm the healthcare system.

“Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign currently has no active Facebook ads, the morning after another disappointing finish in a series of primary contests,” Axios reports.

“A pause in digital advertising spend on Facebook has been a good indicator that candidates are dropping out of the 2020 race before. Pete Buttigieg and Michael Bloomberg made their Facebook ads inactive hours before they suspended their campaigns.”

  7. Bernie Sanders will ‘assess his campaign’ after losses in Illinois, Arizona, Florida. “His campaign is going to have to make a decision about his path forward … how to make sure the profound impact he has had on politics over the last five years translates into long-term gains,” said Neil Sroka, spokesman for Democracy for America, a progressive group backing Sanders.

    1. Our Revolution thinks his best way to make an impact is to stay in the race. I'm not sure, but it's his decision.

    2. I agree with Our Revolution. But it is his decision.

    1. According to two Infectious Disease specialists from the Mayo Clinic, interviewed today on NPR, soap and water does NOT destroy the virus, but it does indeed wash it off your hands and down the drain.

Once down the drain, no longer having a live host, it will die.

  9. This is the version I saw:

    Neil Diamond: Hands
    CDC: wash hands
    Neil Diamond: touching hands
    CDC: not advisable
    Neil Diamond: reaching out
    CDC: use caution
    Neil Diamond: touching you
    CDC: please avoid doing that
    Neil Diamond: Sweet Caroline
    CDC: ba ba baaa

  10. How ironic!
Well, we Vermonters are ready to graciously give up either one of our Senators to be President.

  11. Shelter in place order issued by Fresno City Council. [Click] Damned inconvenient. Oh, well. So far no report of local transmission of the virus. Sure do wish we could get to the junior college and retrieve our screen printing stuff; we have a project in progress. But we will set up a screen printing studio in the garage in the meantime. Fingers crossed that Amazon will deliver the supplies I ordered.

  12. The White House’s top economic adviser, Larry Kudlow, said the administration may consider asking for an equity stake in corporations who want coronavirus aid from taxpayers, Bloomberg reports.

THAT'S SOCIALISM!!!! Or at least Marxism-Leninism.

    1. No! *gasp* Ya mean, like Bernie Sanders? Wait. Bernie doesn't actually want the government to take over companies. Maybe his brand of socialism isn't so bad after all.
