Bluejay in the Sunlight

  1. Richard Wolffe on the debate [Click] Taegan Goddard put his opinions behind a paywall, but he was very clearly displeased. Some great lines— “That shouldering stump next to Elizabeth Warren was Mike Bloomberg….. and he has to do this again next week.” These weenies have forgotten, if they ever knew, that American politics is [at least traditionally] a contact sport. I think I will have to watch the whole thing— it sounds like it beats the bejezus out of the pathetic set-pieces the TV networks have been passing off on us as “debates” lo these many years. [Note to the Democratic Party “elites:” Mene, mene, tekel upharsim.]

    1. Yet again it seems that the Trumpets think the(ir) United States can dominate the world by showing its word means nothing. Already other countries who used to look to the US for guidance are working things out among themselves.

  6. Hawks say Sanders will be weak on Russia. But Putin should fear a President Bernie [Click] “Whereas recent US foreign policy has emboldened the Kremlin, Sanders actually understands how to undermine it”

  7. The Cosmic Irony of Bernie Sanders’ Rise [Click] A very interesting hypothesis; it will bear extended consideration, I think.

    1. Makes perfect sense to me. "... ideologically, tens of millions of Democrats see Bernie Sanders as Barack Obama, only more so." Right. Frankly, I'm one of them.

    2. I find the writer's idea growing on me. Although I tend to see Obama as a late New Democrat, and Sanders as (hopefully) something a lot closer to a New Dealer.
