Thanks, Alan. They're all pretty to look at, aren't they? Needless to say, I can't begin to read cursive of any kind. And between my crippled hands and bad vision, I can barely write my own name. Still, I'd like to improve my signature. Round hand might be my best bet. BTW I recognize the term copper plate. I gather that was one's best handwriting if one were a Nineteenth or early Twentieth Century Brit. Seems to me also Bilbo Baggins wrote out something, invitations maybe, in his best copper plate, though I'd have to check that.
I had never been pleased with my upper case "D" (my middle initial). I have changed it from a poorly executed Palmer style to something near Round Hand. I like it. I also discovered that the lower case "z" I have adopted is, in addition to the standard French cursive, also Round Hand. A poorly executed Palmer lower case "z" can resemble a "y." I will have to go back and take a look at Round Hand. I never liked the Palmer upper case "F" and "T," so developed my own versions--then discovered that they were very close to my mother's versions. Not quite--I can't quite manage the forms she used, but very similar.

P.S.: I believe that Copperplate and Round Hand relied on very flexible pen nibs, that gave broader lines on the down stroke; but that can certainly be omitted nowadays.
This has been the scariest few days of my life. Tanner is continuing to decline. Hard conversations continue to be had. I continue to say that Tanner wants to live. Only God knows if Tanner will have his wish. It’s breaking my heart to see his fear and his sadness. Pray for his kidneys to heal. Pray he won’t need dialysis and if he does that his body will tolerate it. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for loving my boy with me. Thank you for loving me. 1 hr ·
