Oh, The Bard!

It seems that Netanyahu’s [and the Likud’s] goose is cooked; next Boris Johnson [and the Tories]; might The Great Orange One [and the GOP] be next? The arc of history and all that…

    I haven’t been on FB much today, so to log in and see all the beautiful tributes, candles, changed profile pictures, love and prayers is overwhelming. I know that we are being held by Tanners army.
    Tanner is comfortable but he is nearing the end. Please continue to pray that his passing will be peaceful and that I will have the clarity and inspiration to make the decisions that need to be made.
    Tanner, you are the miracle.

    1. Just. No.

      Megan amazes me. How she can even put together a coherent sentence right now, while losing two sons in such a short time and under such different circumstances. How to even wrap one's head around ...

      Just read through the posts around Tanner's liver transplant surgery 13 years and 6 weeks ago. He had just turned 2 years old. I'm sobbing. That sweet boy really is the miracle. I hope Megan never loses sight of how much she is the miracle that allowed the miracle that he was and is and what a gift they both are. ♡

  5. Oh, my. I am reminded that I never had a chance to say goodbye to my father.

    1. Come to think of it, my father was in a dream I had about three days ago; it had been quite some time since that previously happened. This year marks 54 years since he died at the age of 54 (like his father before him), but the dream was not on the anniversary of his passing.

  8. ”Evangelical” Has Lost Its Meaning [Click] “A term that once described a vital tradition within the Christian faith now means something else entirely.” Interesting, although the writer *may* be writing from a vantage point so close he has some difficulty seeing the forest for the trees. In the opinion of an outsider.

    1. I prefer the word "evilgelical" because that is what they have become. They don't use their "religion" to comfort or to help, they use it as a club to beat people who don't do things the way they want them done.

    Today Tanner passed away. Heaven now has two Nielsen Angels. But just like tanner said "everything is going to be okay" and it is. He will be missed but he is with his brother Noah in a place of peace and rest. Love you little brother. Stay strong. One day I hope to be as brave, as strong, and as much of a warrior as you. You fought many battles.. I'll never forget how awesome you are 💙💙💙
    See ya soon, Godspeed

    1. Such a sad ache. Dear boy, such a strong soul, so unfair to have the body he got.

      I've been sitting here pondering the double sorrow of Tanner's death and the death of the teen that gave Tanner a good liver 13 years ago. I see it now from both sides, having watched the dying of a sweet 8 year old friend from brain cancer (well, his funeral was on his 8th birthday) and having lived through the death of 16 year old Jillian 3 years ago, who donated organs and tissue to over 100 people.

      It seems to me Tanner gave spirit to more than 100 people. May Megan feel powerfully supported and sustained. She has been grieving this boy for most of his life. May the pain that remains be therefore somehow bearable. Tanner and Megan fought the good fight. I'm so glad she still has Austin.

      Love you, puddle. I'll call you tomorrow in the afternoon (so you can get some rest first). XOXOXOX

    Oh, Come, Angel Band

    My latest sun is sinking fast,
    My race is nearly run;
    My strongest trials now are past,
    My triumph is begun.

    Oh, come, angel band,
    Come and around me stand;
    Oh, bear me away on your snowy wings
    To my eternal home;
    Oh, bear me away on your snowy wings
    To my eternal home.

    I’ve almost reached my heav’nly home,
    My spirit loudly sings;
    Thy holy ones, behold, they come!
    I hear the noise of wings.

    Oh, come, angel band,
    Come and around me stand;
    Oh, bear me away on your snowy wings
    To my eternal home;
    Oh, bear me away on your snowy wings
    To my eternal home.

    1. This is very moving. Although I don't believe in "the angel band," I find it eases my sorrow at the passing of someone I never met in person.

    3. Lyrics: I’M GOING HOME

      Farewell, vain world! I’m going home!
      My Savior smiles and bids me come,
      And I don’t care to stay here long!

      Sweet angels beckon me away,
      To sing God’s praise in endless day,
      And I don’t care to stay here long!

      Chorus:
      Right up yonder, Christians, away up yonder;
      Oh, yes, my Lord, for I don’t care to stay here long.

      I’m glad that I am born to die,
      From grief and woe my soul shall fly,
      And I don’t care to stay here long!

      Bright angels shall convey me home,
      Away to New Jerusalem,
      And I don’t care to stay here long!

      Chorus:
      Right up yonder, Christians, away up yonder;
      Oh, yes, my Lord, for I don’t care to stay here long.

  13. Bright Morning Stars Are Rising

    Bright morning stars are rising
    Bright morning stars are rising
    Bright morning stars are rising
    Day is breaking in my soul

    Oh where are our dear fathers
    Oh where are our dear mothers
    Across the valley praying
    Day is breaking in my soul

    Oh where are our dear brothers
    Oh where are our dear sisters
    They’ve gone to heaven shouting!
    Day is breaking in my soul

    Oh where is my dear Saviour?
    Where is my dear Saviour?
    Here in my heart forever
    Day is breaking in my soul

    Bright morning stars are rising
    Bright morning stars are rising
    Bright morning stars are rising
    Day is breaking in my soul
