Songs about food and cooking! [Click] Alas, “Pulling My Rhubarb Out” (mentioned in the Victorian entertainments article) is reported to be lost… But "Know Your Chicken" sounds promising.
It speaks ill of me, but while pulling weeds yestere'en, it occurred to me to wonder if our Dear Leader is more intelligent than a proglottid (you may not want to know). After mulling it over I supposed that he is, but realized that is a very low bar.
I was going to go outside and pull weeds after 6PM (now 5:45) but thought better of it. 102 F, heat index 107, noticeably humid (25%--I do not expect to get much sympathy for that). No cool breeze. Thought better of it. We will pick peaches, though--they are starting to drop from the tree in the back yard. The power company has asked us to save electricity from 2PM to 7PM tomorrow.
I lied. We picked peaches for about half a hour; during that time a nice little breeze came up. Then I went around to the front of the house, which was completely in the shade and had a slight breeze--not too bad. About 7PM the mosquitoes started buzzing by me, so I put on some repellent. Pulled weeds for about an hour and a quarter. Took one salt pill, a glass of water and a glass of cider. With ice.
Well, only an hour late tonight. Heh.
