Quote of the Day July 24, 2019 at 6:38 am EDT By Taegan Goddard
“There was a Senator, I think it was after the pancreatic cancer, who announced with great glee that I was going to be dead within six months. That senator whose name I’ve forgotten is now himself dead. And I am very much alive.” — Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, in an interview with NPR.
Jonathan Bernstein on importance of Mueller testimony. [Click] Excerpt: “[There is]… a post-Watergate habit – in the press and in the wider political world – of treating presidential misbehavior as either worthy of impeachment or not. It leads to an irrational situation where stories that uncover considerable malfeasance aren’t treated as a big deal unless they’re likely to end in the president’s ouster… That is, the paradigmatic story of a Washington scandal is one that ends with the president getting into the helicopter and leaving the White House, and without that ending the political world doesn’t know quite how to tell the story. That’s an advantage for presidents that we shouldn’t be giving them…” [Emphasis added]
Currently 102F here, heat index 106F. Predicting a high of 105F. Slight breeze, some thunderheads forming over the mountains. A save electricity day for us, from 2PM to 7 PM. By signing up for that, we get a somewhat lower electricity base rate. Maybe when we have the house paid off (not long now) it will make economic sense to install solar power; our house is unusually well oriented for it, but the front of the house facing south, the appearance is not an insignificant factor. Tesla's new electricity generating roof tiles look interesting, and we have plenty of room in the garage for one (or several) of their Power Wall batteries. I understand that signing away the carbon credits to the installers lowers installation costs significantly.
Eldest has solar atop his roof. Root*Center*Son has a quad of solar panels that turns on a pole to follow the sun. We have no solar panels on our house or property, but we bought 4% of a solar array. There are many ways to obtain solar!
I was seriously disappointed that Penny objected to having solar panels installed on our beautiful new vinyl tile roof. But for every Kw of electricity we use a kw of wind-generated electricity is fed into the grid.
Mitch McConnell should explain why he obscured Russian interference in our election
