Gee. We had some clouds, evidently accompanied by a bit of high-level winds that cleared out part of the smoke. A slight chance of rain predicted. No snow, though. Or is that picture just a pronounced frost?
In an email from Nancy, today: Glad that trip is done. H'burg was a madhouse - especially Walmart. The aisles were teaming with people; and 'stockers' too, cause they were having a hard time keeping up with the emptying shelves. The milk and bread sections were a special little hell-wing of the main madhouse...'nuff said.
This is a bit of an essay written by David Gerrold. It's so long I can't post the whole thing, but here is a bit.
Here is a theory — a speculation.
Trump's weird behavior in France, his inability to attend the ceremonies, wasn't the rain. It's because "grampa is sundowning."
The apparent silence among various fright-wing voices suggests that something is up. One theory is that a resignation is in the works. But that might be wishful thinking. Trump is terrified of being found out — living in the White House is his only defense.
What is more likely — to me anyway — is that the reality of the midterms is finally sinking in. The Republicans have lost the House of Representatives and one source suggests as many as 85 separate investigations into Trump's badministration are not only possible, but inevitable. Myself, I'd put the number closer to 12 — the seriously damaging ones. 85 is overkill, and it would keep the house from doing anything else.
The Republicans, especially Trump, are looking at a horrifying political reality — being held accountable. There are no good options for the party and the 2020 elections are already stacked against keeping control of the senate, regardless of who wins the presidency. The blue wave and the pink wave and the brown wave and the Parkland wave — all those were not, will not be a one-time event. The various waves are even more energized now.
Resignation! Ahhhhhhh. be still my heart! That would be soooooooooooooooooooo much more satisfying than impeachment. Watching him slink away with his tail between his legs, knowing that wherever he goes, unless he can find someplace to take him that does not have an extradition agreement with the U.S., he'll live every minute knowing that someday Muler's men will come to get him. Now *that's* a comforting thought to curl up with on a cold winter's night. Thanks, Susan♥
P.S. Yes, I did read the part that said resignation is unlikely, but a girl can dream, can't she?
But I have no dreams about resignation. People with Malignant Narcissism can't give in and they can't resign. Instead, the worse their situation gets, the more they dig in their heels. Then, when the other shoe drops, they go ballistic. It isn't going to be pretty. The best I can hope for is for Mueller to come and take him away, and Pence along with him. Think of this. If Mueller knows he's got the goods on DT and Pence together, he may be waiting for January 20th so that the current Speaker isn't made President. But they say Mueller doesn't go by politics. So maybe that's *my* wishful thinking.
Susan--I was unfamiliar with the term "sundowning," but not with the phenomenon. Wanting to read the rest of the article (where did you find it?), I went googling. Couldn't find it. But I found This from July 2017. [Click] Multiple videos, courtesy of Alternet.

My goodness! Nancy was valiant to get all of that accomplished. And I'm extra glad I have never shopped at Malwart.

I'd like the link, too, Susan.
