P.S.: I hear there were record high temperatures in Southern California--- 111 F at UCLA, for instance. Nothing like that here, although it is pretty warm. The newspaper keeps saying a little over 100 F, but it doesn't feel like that at our place. Granted, we are in a cool spot. I think the official city thermometer is in a warm spot, over at the main airport.

  2. Sweet little kids. You know their next step is to find something to drop down the crack so they can see the splash, right?

    1. See and hear! If it makes a frog jump, so much the better!

    3. Absolutely. What good is a crack, space or hole if you don't drop something down it, right?

Thanks for the dob breeds on a previous thread, Susan. They gave me a laugh.

Alan, we must have sent all our hot weather to you. The heatwave broke overnight, with a lovely, cool evening. Today was nice too. I don't know for sure, but think the high reached the low 80s. Ahhh, sweet relief!

    4. Right here it hasn't been half bad, Cat. Early afternoon it was pretty hot on the south side of the house, and I decided to skip pulling weeds--which are pretty well under control except for grasses, which I sprayed yesterday. Today there was more wind than yesterday, which helps. We have not been using our air conditioner a lot. I stepped outside just now to get a better view of the sunset, and it is downright balmy.

  3. Have finished Part 1 on the physical sciences in Asimov's Guide to Science and am starting Part 2 on the life sciences. Great book!

  4. Puddle, the really frightening thing is not Trump's obvious mental unfitness, but that his base, his fans, whatever you want to call them eat it up. The more rambling, illogical and verbally abusive he is, the more they love it. What does that say about them?
