Sloop!

  1. Sloop John B
    The Beach Boys
We come on the Sloop John B
    My grandfather and me
Around Nassau town we did roam
    Drinking all night
    Got into a fight
Well I feel so broke up
    I want to go home
So hoist up the John B's sail
See how the main sail sets
    Call for the Captain ashore
Let me go home, let me go home
I want to go home, yeah yeah
Well I feel so broke up
    I want to go home
The first mate he got drunk
And broke in the Cap'n's trunk
The constable had to come and take him away
    Sheriff John Stone
Why don't you leave me alone, yeah yeah
Well I feel so broke up, I want to go home
So hoist up the John B's sail
See how the main sail sets
    Call for the Captain ashore
Let me go home, let me go home
I want to go home, let me go home
Why don't you let me go home
(Hoist up the John B's sail)
    Hoist up…

    2. Ah, but listener, the Earworm knows no logic. The Earworm sings what it wants to sing and it will not be swayed.

  3. Today we received an invitation to a gathering in memory of our SIL Elizabeth who died April 13th, to take place on August 26th in Maine. We will be there.

Her dear husband, Lawrence, died in 2014 at age 63.
Elizabeth had just turned 63 in March.

The sweet thing is that we received this invitation on the 45th anniversary of the wedding of Larry & Liz. 💙💙
I am so grateful for the thoughtfulness of her son who sent it.

  4. I have it in mind to take some art classes at the local junior college; too late for Fall 2018, too early for Spring 2019. Well, all things in due course.

  5. Any particular kind of art, Alan?

I would LOVE to find a good oil painting class. But alas, every time I've signed up for one it turns out to be people just painting with no real instruction. Bah!

  6. Well, here's what I have in mind (over three semesters), listener. Being too late to sign up for Fall classes gives me an opportunity to discreetly observe some and see how much instruction there is. I see the JC offers two levels of watercolour, and three of oil/acrylic. The adult school courses and the classes at the art store(s) that I have seen don't seem to give much guidance in basics--if any at all. I mentioned it to Naomi, and she was of the opinion that I would probably profit from the structure of formal classwork--with which I agree.
