    1. Oops—trying again:

The GPS app that can find anyone anywhere.[Click] what3words

It would be a huge improvement in Japan, too.

    2. The headline is scary. Fortunately, it is wrong. What this app can do is provide a findable address for any place. It doesn't track individuals.

    3. Quite so; I thought of commenting on that, or changing the title of the link, but failed to do so.

    4. Phew! That horror is postponed for a while then. On the other hand, an address would be useful.

  2. From Facebook:

Pinocchio, Snow White and Superman are out for a stroll in town one day.

As they walk, they come across a sign: "Beauty contest for the most beautiful woman in the world".

"I am entering", says Snow White.

After half an hour she comes out and they ask her, "Well, how'd ya do?"

    "First Place", said Snow White.

They continue walking and they see a sign: ''Contest for the strongest man in the world''.

    "I'm entering", says Superman.

After half an hour he returns and they ask him, ''How did you make out?"

''First place'', answers Superman. Did you ever doubt?''

They continue walking and they see a sign: ''Contest for the Greatest Liar In The World".

    Pinocchio says, ''This mine!''

After half an hour later, he returns with tears in his eyes.

    ''What happened?'' they ask.

    Pinocchio exclaims.....

    ''Who the heck is Trump!!??''

    1. One thing that is going on is an effort to unite the children, not with the detained parents, but with other relatives already settled in the US. The kits will be particularly helpful in that regard.

    2. There are potential risks, but the offers puts the companies [23andme, MyHeritage] on the right side of the basic issue. The potential adverse press should be manageable.

DNA testing companies offer free testing to match up disappeared children with parents; potential ethical and practical quandries.[Click]

Attorney General Sessions: "Who could have known a little law enforcement would be so complicated?" [Attempt at wry humor; I don't know if he has said that or not.]

“If you get me one more glass of wine, I’ll tell you stuff only Bob Mueller and I know. If you think you’ve seen wild stuff so far, buckle up. It’s going to be a wild couple of months.”

    — Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA), quoted by Politico, a dinner Friday night for more than 100 guests at his house on Martha’s Vineyard.

    1. And that is particularly interesting since Mark Warner has voted with the Republicans more often than not!

  5. What Republicans Are Watching Ahead of the Midterms[Click] A source close to GOP leadership emails Jonathan Swan: “Only thing that matters now is a) how bad they get crushed on ACA premium increases; b) the final Mueller verdict; and c) how crazy Trump gets with the CR.” Hmmm…. it seems to me that four months might be enough time for trade war job losses and disappeared children issues to ripen…

  6. Yup, we went to church in Canada today. The first thing the priest mentioned in his sermon was the plight of the immigrant children at the Mexico border. After the service, I apologised to him for my government. He was very understanding. And it turns out we were both in seminary at Montreal Diocesan Theological College at the same time, back in the 90's! We had a good visit with our friend, Rod, and took him out for brunch. Afterward we went back through Customs and, HEAVY SIGH, they let us back into the USA.
