My dearest friend of 40 years is here for three days!! And there is great rejoicing!!
I spent the last three days and more preparing the house and gardens and doing part of a house siding project! Apologies, as I lost track of where I'd stopped with the blog photos! If it's any comfort, my kitties felt deprived by my absence.
Thanks again, Cat, for posting !!! ♥ PERFECT that it was a kitty! Ha!
“I'm a regular U.S. Army officer, meaning of course that my views do not necessarily reflect those of the DoD or U.S. government….
My bottom line up front on U.S. foreign policy: as Thucydides or Kissinger might have put it, it is currently a four-star dumpster fire.
From my foxhole, at least, it isn't worse than it looks because it looks extraordinarily bad. However, much like a lovely house I own in [one of the Plains states], when the foundations and framing are still solid, the right amount of capital and time can turn a ratty flophouse into a desirable property again…”
Are you folks following the Primary results? Dems are doing pretty well. Diane Feinstein got by far the most votes in her race (which tickles me because the Dem Party dropped her).
Looks like it's going to be a Dem against a Rep pretty much everywhere. *Maybe* one congressional district where 2 Dems will face of and *maybe* one where two Reps will face off. And at least in the early voting, it looks like Nunes is seriously outpolling Jaenz. That's a disappointment.
I voted for DiFi in every statewide contest despite the fact she was rather too far to the right for my tastes--until she voted for the war on Iraq. Her response to the many constituents who pleaded with her not to was essentially "Don't worry your pretty little heads, Mama Feinstein knows best." And after things went bad, just as was foreseen, she made the excuse that she had been deceived by Bush Jr. Rubbish. Anyone with the brains God gave a goose knew exactly what she was voting for. I figure Kevin de Leon's bona fides are better than hers when she was first elected US Senator. And what about her recent advice that we should just try to get along with Trump, he's new in the job and will get better? I don't think so.
RFK is still first.
ReplyDeleteAlways!
DeleteI wonder what he would think of our country today, or indeed if he would even recognize it?
I don't recall ever thinking of RFK as presidential timber in those days. Maybe in retrospect he was. Or maybe not.

ReplyDeleteI am particularly impressed with the last contribution to the column:
