Sledding Party!

On Sunday, my Vermont family gathered for a sledding party at Root*Center*Son's house.
It marked the first time ever that Wil and I have ridden alone together on a sled!! LOL!

    1. Falcon Heavy launch delayed to 2:50 PM due to excessive upper level winds. Launch window closes at 4PM; if it doesn't get off by then, they will try again tomorrow.

I occurs to me to wonder if the Tesla Roadster owner's manual is in the glove compartment...

P.S.: They intend to get it into a flight path for Mars.

Come to think of it, both the owner's manual and the [signed] pink slip ought to be in the glove compartment...

    6. I would certainly hope the owner's manual is included! And the warranty card.

  2. The night before last, on a whim, I reread Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and last night read for the first time the sequel Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator. The first is delightful, fully living up to my vague recollection. And though sequels are seldom as good as the books they follow, the second was also a fun read.

  3. Here's a funny thing. I got a robocall tonight from someplace with a local number, and immediately blocked it. Then I googled the number and it was the Burlington School District. Just as I'm wondering what the Burlington School District would be calling me for, my husband's phone rang from the same number. So he listened to the message and it was to tell us that Burlington schools will close tomorrow at 1:00pm...! As I'm not in the Burlington School District I was mystified. Turns out grandson recently got registered for Kindergarten next year and we were included in his emergency contact list! HAAA! Having home schooled our children K-12, this was the first school call we've ever received! 😄

  4. ALAN! Here's a question one of my DILs asked today. Care to weigh in?

"Are there any studies done on kids pencil grips and whether or not it’s a good or bad idea to correct their grip? Does it have negative repercussions correcting grip? Or should you correct it? Any expert advice out there? I know bad things come forcing kids to switch hands. I’m not talking about that and never forcing anyway. I’m just very curious about this."

    1. I can't say anything about that, but kids have been taught "correct" grips for eons. I would just be careful about what is meant by "correct." I don't think it can be compared to forcing lefties to write with their off hand. And if some other adult is teaching them differently, that is a big problem. I am shocked by how many people use the "death grip" for writing, just as much as I am astounded at how many schools only teach kids to print. Granted that the type of printing they teach these days is much nicer looking than what I was taught, but still--unable to write? I am still working on correcting my grip--old habits die hard. I still have tendency to curl my fingers under my hand so the sides of the fingers rather than the fingernails rest on the paper. But nails on the paper just as Palmer taught is definitely easier on the hand. (If one's hand is hurting from decades of abuse, it is perhaps more noticeable...)
