National Day of Mourning

It breaks my heart to see the flag being so frayed, as our American values are disrespected.

  3. Bill, you can always cancel the doctor appointment, if needed. But to have one gives you more options incase it doesn't really clear. Take a few photos of your leg, too. (Did you look up cellulitis?)

  5. Wow! Is everybody out marching or what?

The grands have now left and we are utterly exhausted and extremely happy!!

Best of all, we gave our son and DIL a day off (they used it to clean house!) and fed them a good dinner and our DIL took some home she liked it so well!

I love it when that happens!!

“Well, very simply, you have to get everybody in a room. You have to be a leader. The president has to lead. He’s got to get the Speaker of the House and everybody else in a room, and they have to make a deal. You have to be nice, and be angry, and be wild, and cajole, and do all sorts of things. But you have to get a deal.”

    — Donald Trump, on Fox News during the government shutdown in 2013.

“Negotiating with President Trump is like negotiating with jello. It’s next to impossible. As soon as you take one step forward the hard right forces the president three steps back… It’s next to impossible to strike a deal with the president because he can’t stick to the terms.”

    — Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), quoted by The Hill, on President Trump’s efforts to prevent a government shutdown.

The Trump campaign released a new campaign ad calling Democratic lawmakers “complicit” in all murders committed by undocumented immigrants.

TPM:”The spot seems unlikely to ease tensions on Capitol Hill as the Senate tries to negotiate a compromise on the fate of the 700,000 immigrants who entered the U.S. illegally as children in order to reopen the shuttered federal government.”

    Seems unlikely? Ya think?

  7. No, I didn't march today. I had planned to, but didn't at the last minute. Our march isn't really a "march". We just gather in the courthouse square and hear speakers. I would like it better if we did march, but oh well.........

  8. Marches photos.[Click] When I (this afternoon) saw the sign “We All Come From The Goddess,” first I thought “Who could disagree with something so self-evident?” Since then I have had an earworm—“We All Come From The Goddess” mixed up with “Return To Sender.”

  9. This has been my best day in a week. My leg stopped hurting immediately after my shower this morning. FWIW, I then put on over-the-calf socks in dressing for my book discussion and subsequent dinner get together. The leg is only now starting to hurt again.

Update from when I took a good look at it last night: It is showing absolutely no sign of spreading beyond where it was when I got home Wednesday, which I think argues against a bacterial origin. And there are places where the redness seems to be starting to fade, although there are other places where there are still blisters. But the most important observation is that there are places where the blisters have or will cause skin loss, which is likely to call for medical treatment. So I will make a doctor appointment as soon as the office opens Monday.

    1. I think you are right about the argument against infection, Bill. Very glad to hear it is improving--still very odd, though.
