Nothing going on here election-wise. Watching Virginia and New Jersey gubernatorial races.
Re coffee substitutes, I continue to be troubled by a cough that seems to be from the dreaded post-nasal drip. Supposedly alcohol and caffeine make it worse by dehydrating the body, making the mucus thicker. So no alcohol or coffee (Boo!) should have the opposite effect, no? So a day or two after I went off of coffee, I came down with a very bad cold which made things worse--hacking up a lot of stuff. But it is definitely thinner and more watery than usual, so less troublesome. Somewhere I also read that coffee stimulates peristalsis--have a cuppa, go to the necessary quickly. I hadn't ever made that connection, but it seems to be so. That is better for me because of the surgical changes in my lower GI tract. A glass of water with breakfast just doesn't float my boat, so I did some looking online, then in a grocery store, where I found Pero and Cafix coffee substitutes. I went for the latter. Report to ensue.
I've had gradually worsening chronic rhinosinusitis pretty much all my life. It was maybe a decade ago that it switched from runny nose to postnasal drip. But I'm not clear why the consistency would make a difference.
Yup, elections here. I sent in my ballot a while back. I vote by absentee ballot. They probably just toss it out, but I don't trust the machines either. And the people they've had as poll workers tick me off.
I don't mind it one bit, listener. In both cases the Republican candidate wound up campaigning from the gutter--make that the sewer. The exact opposite of Calvin Coolidge, it occurs to me. Coolidge was one of the most decent campaigners I know of. Vermonter, eh?
Against my better judgment, we are listening to DT's speech in South Korea. (It wasn't my idea, but Mah*Sweetie wants to hear what foolishness we're facing next.) My dear just said, "So far he's still just reading from the encyclopedia.
On the brink of nuclear war and he had to mention his golf club. Egads.
Looks like governor, Lt. Governor, Attorney General, AND the House of Delegates will go to Democrats! D's have picked up 6 seats in their house already.
Well now, this is shocking. DT made a truly decent, reasonably diplomatic speech. And it was a long one. I can hardly believe he pulled it off without going off script or making some kind of snide remark. Whatever they have him on, they should order in bulk from Canada!
Of course, the problem with the speech is that he set as preconditions for North Korea what we are hoping for after diplomatic talks. So there is nowhere for the talks to go. At least he didn't actually start a nuclear war tonight.

ReplyDeleteDems have won Gov races in VA & NJ tonight. CNN blames it on a response to DT.
ReplyDeleteTell me you're loving that as much as I am. 😉
Wish it were Progressives and Independents, but at least it's not Republicans!

From Andrew, vis a vis VA:

My vote was to watch an episode of West Wing instead. Ha.
ReplyDeleteHey, it looks like Virginia may have picked up 12 - 15 Dem House seats! WOW!!!
