  1. Hannah, thanks for the invitation to the Hannah Blog!

The link that you posted on the last thread did not work for me. So I poked around and found this one:

  2. One last note before I must sleep.

Tomorrow I will sub at the Library. Tomorrow night we get COLD and some squalls!! We are told to expect a dusting to 2 inches of snow along with 20-25mph winds greeting us on Friday morning. Of course that's the one morning I must be up and out early and drive an hour to offer spiritual guidance (3 mtgs). And of course my appt to have my snow tires put on isn't until Monday! So I will take the long way 'round and drive with care. I have already found my Winter gloves and will dress for it. I really do welcome Winter!! ❄️

  5. “I don’t blame China. After all, who can blame a country for being able to take advantage of another country for the benefit of its citizens? I give China great credit.”

    — President Trump, quoted by Axios, at an event with Chinese officials.

  6. Top ranks of US diplomacy 'depleted at dizzying speed' under Trump[Click] Once again, I ask: If Trump were a willing and knowing agent of Russia, might he not be acting exactly as he is?

    1. Er, he looks more like an agent of China, don't you think?

    2. I figure that any disruption of US international alliances would certainly be helpful to Russia, and China has both very large commercial ties with the US and tense relations with several countries that the US has since WWII sheltered from Chinese influence. One ameliorating factor is that China, thanks to the one child policy, has a shortage of military-age men.

  7. Good article on the Virginia elections from today's Huffington Post. From the article: "And, notwithstanding the GOP’s gerrymandering of the state legislative districts, voters in 17 GOP-held House districts voted for [Hillary Clinton] as well. (As of Wednesday afternoon, Democrats had flipped 15 of those 17 seats and one seat in a district where Trump won.)" This illustrates an important point about gerrymandering that most people don't recognize: When a party seeks to maximize the number of districts in which it holds a majority, the margin will be quite thin in many of those districts. And when the tide turns, many of those swing districts will flip.

The article also includes an interview with the Democratic Socialist who won without official party support.

  8. Ray Moore in sex scandal[Click] Maybe more than one teenage girl? GOP senators run the other way. Murkowski recommends Strange run as a write-in candidate. Lots of other good tidbits. Can’t say as it particularly surprises me, but the timing is outstanding. I can see a challenger addressing a crowd: “Ah would NEVAH accuse my honored (lowered pitch implies sarcasm) opponent of either PEDOPHILIA or BESTIALITY, because I have no personal knowledge of his participation in such DISGUSTIN’ PERVERSIONS.

    1. I suppose that winters are severe enough back in your neck of the woods that you have to keep your cattle in the barn. Out here an overcoat is impractical, but if I am ever in a place where it is practical, I am of a mind to check the thrift stores to see if there is one I like. It's almost impossible to find anything more than jacket length here--and there are times when I would like one long enough to cover my rear end.

The place to get your outerwear is LL Bean (generally) or (here in Vermont) The Outdoor Gear Exchange.
