  3. Alan, it fleetingly crossed my mind to wonder whether Nunes was your congresscritter. I'm so sorry to find that he is!

  4. Stefano Pessina took control of the drugstore chain using its own money. Now he’s squaring off with CVS. Can a brilliant dealmaker become a killer retailer? - Click

Wallgreen's has not moved its corporate headquarters offshore to lessen its U.S. tax obligation, and its effort to buy out (merge with) Rite Aid has mostly fallen through. Still, I'm switching my online custom to Rite Aid. If I'm reading my Google results aright, always a major question, Rite Aid is union, which also makes a difference.

    1. I hope CVS will hold out.

"CVS and Walgreens are pursuing opposite strategies. CVS is emphasizing its pharmacies and health clinics even as Walgreens pushes consumer products. CVS has made health its unifying concept, punctuating the choice by adding “Health” to its name and making the bold decision to stop selling cigarettes. Says the CEO of another competitor, with admiration: “CVS has been really consistent and is building a brand around what it stands for.”"

    2. Target sold their pharmacy business to CVS. My son and I had to switch to another pharmacy quickly because CVS does not allow "price-matching" to find the lowest price. We get our refills about every 3 months. It went from $74 to $181 in that period for the exact same prescriptions. Just another blood-sucking money-grabbing business.

    3. Susan from what this article says, it sounds like under the new management, Wallgreen's is very interested in lowering prescription medication prices. So you might want to try them.

  6. My second brother died last night-- Myelodysplastic syndromes--MDS. Three weeks into hospice. He was ready, and wanted it to be quick. But he left a hole. Which can't be filled.

  7. Ohhh, puddle. My heart flies to you!! 💖 Knowing that this was coming doesn't make the hole one bit smaller. I hope you will feel love that will make the hole bearable. I can think of nothing better to be said about someone who has died than that they left a hole that cannot be filled. May we all do that. 💜
