  1. Bernie is first in Michigan and in our hearts. But remember that it was Howard who gave us the power that gave us Bernie.

Here is a link to a page at HuffPost Pollster that, among other things, provides explanations for why the polls got things so wrong: HuffPost Pollster. The three explanations are that the polls seriously overestimated Clinton's support among black voters (although she still carried them by a sizable margin), underestimated turnout, especially by young voters, and were unable to account for the fact that Bernie carried the voters who made up their minds in the last few days.

And it appears that the total delegate count I gave last night included unpledged delegates despite the fact I had carefully unchecked the box that said to include them. The correct numbers are Clinton 762, Bernie 552. That sounds right.

    1. Ah, that count sounds much more hopeful. Thanks, Bill.

    1. Yes--failed to post it here, though. Mind-boggling geochemistry! And where did all that carbon come from?

    2. There's a lot of carbon on Earth. After hydrogen and helium, it's one of the most common elements in the universe. But on Earth, thanks to biological activity, it's mostly carbonate rock. (Hmm. Does Mercury have less oxygen than Earth? I don't know why that would be. Or is it all tied up in things like silicates?)

  3. So, I sent a friend request on Facebook to a friend of Mum's a retired Naval enlisted man who writes lovely poetry. He accepted and I went to his page to thank him.

The topmost post on his page was the headline that Nancy Reagan was set to endorse Trump on Super Tuesday. My first thought was a bit irreverent and I hope it doesn't trouble our gentle-hearted Listener:

She endorsed Trump, and look where it got her!

    1. Did she actually endorse Trump before she died? I'm not troubled, excepting where you might be assuming something about where she is now. ;-)

Here's a thoughtful article on Bernie's win in Michigan. Be sure to read through the Comments at the end, because they are among the more civil and thoughtful I've come across on a public site!

    2. It seems most unlikely that she would have endorsed Trump, or even planned to. That sounds like an Internet rumor.

  4. Finished Tarzan the Terrible Monday night. Typical Burroughs, lots of chasing about, women folk being kidnapped, though Jane gave a good account of herself in her encounter with the mad German lieutenant. In the end Tarzan and Jane had to be rescued at the last possible moment from certain and ignominious death; but I was too dense to have worked out who the rescuer was, despite numerous hints throughout the book. Losing my touch. A fine read if you enjoy Burroughs.

  5. Listener, search as I might, I can't find individual buttons at the Bernie online store. Could you please get me two...if you remember to get them?

  6. Got it, Cat! :-) I'm hoping to get there next week!
