The National Nurse team is heading to DC again Feb 24-27. It looks really good for the bill to pass this session. If anyone can make even a small donation, it will help them pay expenses, as it's all out of pocket. There is a Paypal link on the website, or if you prefer to mail directly to Teri Mills, let me know and I'll email you the address. http://nationalnurse.org/
Sunny and windy today. Lovely to look out at, especially as there is snow cover, albeit light. Fortunately, I didn't have to go out. Never have been overly fond of the cold.
Today at Fun Trivia I earned a badge that really means something. Usually badges (mini and major) indicate the completion of some arbitrary task or set of tasks. The one awarded today though is a little different. It recognizes that five of the quizzes I have authored, one in each of five categories, is popular enough to be rated in the top 50% of quizzes on the site. Indeed, the numbers indicate that four of the five are in the top 33%. Considering that there are well over 100,000 quizzes on the site, this is something of an accomplishment. In the simplest terms, this award tells me I'm giving people pleasure with the quizzes I write; and that's pretty amazing, heartwarming and humbling. I was incredibly psyched this morning on seeing the award message. It took me a while to come down from the high. Engelbert says applause is the food of the artist. The idea is similar here. People vote by playing the quiz and applaud by giving it a good rating...if my metaphors aren't too mixed.
I think I am on my way to deciding to take up T'ai Chi Ch'uan. I have decided which school is most appropriate to my objectives and physical limitations, have discovered that two well-recommended instructional videos that retail for nearly sixty dollars are available to download for free, and am proceeding to do so after perusing same. It seems no one provides such classes around here, so learning one one's own is the way to go--which suits me just fine.
Howard is firstiest on this cold gray January day.
ReplyDeleteHad a put up a tree, tomorrow'd be the day I took it down. Cept for the year I left it up till Memorial Day. . . .
Memorial Day!
DeleteWhen I decorate, as minimally this Christmas, it comes down on the Seventh. Ahem, *after* the Feast of the Epiphany.
Cold a d windy here today. Should hit -5F here tonight, wind chills to -25F. YES!! I just wish we were expecting two weeks of this.

Oops--no, the free ones are only introductions and first lessons. But that's cool.
