LOL Puddle re the Stoppard snippet on the last thread. He was, I believe, spoofing a genuine phenomenon. Can't for the life of me remember where, but I know I've encountered resident hermits in Nineteenth Century English literature. I do agree though that one who took the newspapers would not be one a person could feel altogether confident in trusting. *grin*
According to Wikipedia, the berries are a food source for several species of birds, and Native Americans use them for (unspecified) medicinal purposes. --Alan
listener--what did you think of the movie "Interstellar?"
This morning I happened across a long article on The Guardian about Jimi Hendrix on the 40th anniversary of his death: Jimi Hendrix [Click] I can't say as I ever paid much attention to him at the time, but now I'm going to have to give him a listen. Odd coincidence that he died the same year and the same age as Janis Joplin (to whom I also didn't pay much attention until recently--after getting a really good set of headphones.)
Court today about three counties away, on the central coast. Into the witness box right at the appointed time, off within a half hour. No rain along the way. The court is in a college town, so we could in our spare time enjoy ourselves in the downtown shopping district.
Well, Jimi Hendrix was obviously a fine musician, but when comparing his versions of "Killing Floor" and "Bleeding Heart" with the originals(?) by Howlin' Wolf and Elmore James, the earlier ones are much more to my taste. I skimmed a few other Jimi Hendrix songs as well. But the Guardian story about him is great stuff.
Could a hermit vote for Howard Dean by mail?

Left you a story on the least thread, Alan.
ReplyDeleteAnd somewhere in googleland is an algorithm scratching it's head at the uptick in "hermit" searches.

ReplyDeleteLovely photo. Are the berries edible, by man or beast or bird?
