Wind Power in Vermont

5 comments:

  1. Howard is number one hereabouts, but renewable power is pretty far up there too! Those look like the big new type of wind electric generators; the blades turn at fewer revolutions per minute than the older, smaller ones, but the tip speeds are the same--not quite fast enough to induce turbulent flow.

Busier than the dickens here lately, but getting under control now. One of the jobs, now largely completed, was to unpack and install a nice grandfather clock. It's all set up and going now, but I have to clean up the packing material, tools, etc. Miyoko has wanted one for decades, and there is no reason to expect we will ever again see the one my great aunt and uncle had. It's complicated, as they say.

I saw in the local newspaper that there was a mountain lion apprehended in the city where Naomi lives, subsequently returned to the mountains. Looking for more information online, it turned out that it was caught on the block where she lives! Eek! We will be visiting with her this weekend. Evidently the mountain lion was a young male looking for its own territory, and he took a wrong turn.

Susan--re Secretary Clinton, I also am not in favor of dynastic succession, and consider her much too far to the right for my tastes. But frankly I have my doubts that she is particularly intelligent, and I don't consider her presidential timber. I don't think I am being unfair to say that she attained public prominence because of whom she married and because of her reaction to his misbehavior. I would look for someone like Jennifer Granholm or Kathleen Sibelius, with some concept of world history and foreign policy. That's a tall order, I admit. Elizabeth Warren is promising except that when it came to foreign policy during the Obama campaign she seemed simply to parrot what Obama's handlers told her to say. I can't tell if she was simply being a good soldier or whether she truly didn't know beans about foreign affairs. Well, we shall see. The national Democratic Party doesn't give a hoot about my vote, since they figure they have California's electoral votes in the bag. Beyond that, California is simply a cash dispenser to them. Put me down as an impractical old coot if you will, but the siren song of lesser evilism just doesn't do it for me any more. Who wants my vote needs to nominate a candidate for whom I actively wish to vote. And thus to bed.

    1. WOW, Alan! Did Naomi know about the new local at the time? It's good to hear the authorities took the lion to a more suitable environment. Well done, CA!

  2. Another hot one today--got the A/C on. Later I'll laugh; days like this won't be worth it. But for now, after the longest winter. . . .

  3. We were very pleased to have 65F today, even with clouds and just a touch of showers. Tomorrow, more rain, but on Mother's Day we're to expect NO precip and 70F! PERFECTION! :-D
