We got a most pleasant surprise today! We are invited to our daughter-in-law's graduation (as a Registered Nurse) on May 17th! Naturally we assumed that her parents, husband and daughters would fill her ticket allowance, but apparently they hold the graduation in a huge civic center! Yay!!!
Back from Spokane yesterday evening. Still trying to catch up with important work to do.
With one exception, the trip was great. Saw old friends and acquaintances, met new people, Got a lot done toward understanding what my job will be over the next year and a half. The exception was when what I thought was another section of sidewalk turned out to be a curb. Fell flat on my face. Sore nose, two black eyes, and cuts that bled far longer than they should have. Plus broken glasses. But everything is much better now. And my new glasses have finally come in. My new glasses have come in. They'll let me pick them up on the 16th -- the day before my next trip!
Wow, that's a VERY BIG exception, Bill. Sure glad it was no worse than that--the potential was certainly there. We don't bounce so well as we once did.
Ouchy! So glad you're okay. It seems Providential that your new glasses didn't arrive before your trip. Why must you wait until the 16th? I gather your old ones were jury-rigged for the time being? Glad the trip was good otherwise; there's nothing like seeing old friends!
Much nicer coming home from Oakland today than it would have been yesterday, weather-wise. Cool, but daylight, no rain, and a mixture of white clouds and blue sky. The deciduous oaks have pretty well leafed out now. Time permitting, and it might, I plan to watch "Muriel's Wedding" tonight. Just one job to complete before I can do that.
Howard Dean, we need you!

Had to laugh: my first fly yesterday. The spiders have been waiting for a week. . . . How perfect the design: first the spiders, then the flies.
ReplyDeleteJust ordered Downton Abbey, seasons 1-4. The recs for Marigold and As Time Goes By were so right on, who am I to resist, lol!?
ReplyDeleteOh! Also the last four years of ATGB, and the reunion specials.
DeleteAND The Divine Secrets of the YaYa Sisterhood, a book I loved.
Renee must be so relieved!

I liked The Divine Secrets (Sandra Bullock did great; you'll love it).
ReplyDeleteDownton Abbey is exquisite, except do be warned that author Julian Fellowes has a mean streak. He can't seem to leave the innocent happy. Just sayin'.
Maggie Smith is great in both…OF COURSE! ;-)

Oh, sorry about the fall: that sounds really unpleasant. Quick healing mercies!

DeleteThey insist that the glasses must be "fitted" by an optometrists, and their optometrists are very busy.
