    1. The irony is that turkey was originally the festive bird because it was so expensive. Today it is almost the cheapest meat you can find. Too bad they go out of their way to add salt and make it a no-no for those of us with high blood pressure.

    2. Always tickled me that in China, chicken was more expensive than prawns. (Though Tianjin was a port city, so that may not be true everywhere.) The only turkeys, called "thunder chickens," were in the city zoo. . . .

    3. Guess it all depends on your cultural norm. *grin*

    4. Who needs the salted sort? Ask for unsalted sliced turkey breast. Even better: buy a humanely-raised turkey that was fed organic feed and cook and slice yourself.

    5. listener ~~ Penny refuses to pay those higher prices. When I had good eyes and was doing much of the grocery shopping I would buy the lower-sodium turkey breast slices, but that's no longer an option.

  2. Comments on the last thread.

The turntable on my record player is out of balance. Both Dad and I have tinkered with it but it remains just off. This is the sort of situation where a miss is as good as a mile; the slightest imbalance making the record sound pretty much as bad as a larger imbalance. *sigh* If it's not one thing it's another.

    1. Cat--

Turntables at Musician's Friend [Click] They're great to do business with, in my experience. They have a sale going on now--it includes at least some turntables, but the have both new and used, direct drive or belt drive, many with USB connections, at least one with an iPod dock. Customer reviews as well.

  3. 6 year old VT*Grand was here for three days, two nights. I'm tired, but oh we had fun! I was even able to take a nap today with her playing quietly nearby! A first!
