Yes, Bill, this was last week. I took more today, and there's more colour. It must be pretty late for Chicago to still be waiting for Fall foliage colours!
Chicago isn't as far north as people think. Penny was commenting that frosts are late this year -- meaning all the tomatoes, etc. are still on the vine rather than in the house to ripen -- but not unusually so.
I could really appreciate the slower pace that Winter affords. Meanwhile, I am reveling in the beauty of Autumn! It got cold enough one night this week that my Mini's "low tire" light came on in the morning. (I reset it and it didn't stay on.) Snow tires will be needed soon. But we still haven't had a killing frost. Impressive!
This photo is taken about 8 miles from some land that Judy & Howard own.
ReplyDeleteWas it taken this year? We haven't yet seen any color change in the Chicago area.

DeleteVery quiet coolish autumn day. Kiddle's coming this weekend to "button me up" for winter. Which is, alas, apt.
