How Old?

13 comments:

  1. Unexpected emergency that i don't currently see much way of finding my way out of too easily. Tangible, in-town assistance would help. For anyone not in the Columbus area, a paypal donation would be the best option for helping start to turn things around for the family.

  2. Howard'd be first. Again.

Warm and sunny now. Rain this afternoon. Ah, April.

    1. Yep. Sponsored by a Republican. Turns out that SF has been compulsory in Kansas schools for decades.

    1. Mostly sunny here, but I don't think the temps reached 50.

  5. Bill, those decade marks don't seem so important once you've passed them, but they seem like formidable hurtles when you're facing them. Actually, forty didn't bother me all that much, but I am beginning to understand why people get hot and bothered about fifty.

    1. Well, it was a bit before I turned 50 that my first eye went bad. That was much more important than the birthday. But I was definitely looking forward to 70 because that meant I started drawing Social Security. And my IRA annuity 6 months later. Financial security I had never had before. And now I'm looking forward to 80. Just because 80 is a nice round number. Time to think about 90 after that.

  6. The Black Lizard Big Book of Pulps arrived yesterday, and I immediately discovered a Johnny Mathis CD I needed. I wish things would bunch themselves into batches for ease of ordering, but of course they never do.

I actually got Mum to listen to a Johnny Mathis song, "A Handful of Stars," today. Since she hate Johnny just about as heartily as she hates Engelbert, that was something of an accomplishment. Though the other day she condescended to listen to "You'll Never Walk Alone" by Enge and actually, grudgingly, admitted it was a good version. As Alan says, water wears away stone.

  7. BTW both the white and the pink magnolia are out now, quite lovely together. Daffodils have been out for several days. Ours are the kind with creamy outer petals and dark yellow inner.
