All I've got, Susan. And I really DO think it does help. Both the sender and the receiver. Clearly, indeed, something more local is in order, also. Which I also think is there.
What's the problem (cosmoscat@earthlink.net), or do I not want to know?
Renee, I sent you a paypal transfer. Hope it helps. I'm sorry we're all scattered so can't be there for each other in the flesh when needed. Also sending lots of love and good vibes♥
Yesterday the library sent me and last night I started reading Over the River & Through the Woods: The Best Short Fiction of Clifford D. Simak . Have read the introduction by Poll Anderson and the first story, "." What a beautiful story! Believe it or not, I've never read any Simak before. But I'll be reading more if I can find it.
We're still awaiting the child. Prayers and good vibes appreciated. They've been in Labor & Delivery for about 45 hours and Mama is getting exhausted. She is taking an epidural nap so that she may be strong enough for pushing. If not, I suspect a cesarean could be in the offing. They're stressed, wiped out and bummed. Sure do hope this baby comes soon and is fine. Rough first time experience, and being early this opera ain't over.
Certainly there are myriad benefits to both Mama and Baby from the, ahem, standard birthing method; but there are times when C section is advisable. This may be one such time. I mean, forty-five hours! How long are they gonna wait and put her through this? The means of ending her suffering is readily to hand. Why not do the C section and have done?
Here's the thing... This baby isn't DUE until May 18th. They needed to induce early, and since mom's body and the baby weren't full term and ready, it takes longer to make it happen. It's not like she was in hard labor the whole time. Part of the time she was being monitored to see how her blood pressure was doing. They also gave her an epidural so that she could sleep for awhile, to ensure she'd have enough energy for the delivery.
I hurt myself this afternoon. It was a stupid accident. I'd poured my coffee with no mishap and put down the kettle, which is metal. We used to have a plastic one that must have been insulated, because it didn't get so hot. But, needless to say, the metal one gets very hot. So, I put down the kettle and reached around it for the spoon, and bumped the kettle with the side of my hand.
Fortunately, it's a very small and minor burn. Dad couldn't find any Solarcane but he found some Neosporin and it doesn't hurt anymore. But it gave me a scare and there's a red mark.
A few years ago I badly burned a long angry stripe on the inside of my right arm. Careless handling of a hot cookie sheet. I had to go on a bus trip the next day. My seatmate asked me what happened to my arm and I said, "Knife fight."
I actually did tell her the true story later, but I have a warped sense of humor.
It seems the early congressional Obamacare exemption story was based on a misunderstanding. I gather the real story is that some GOP member put in an amendment that he though the Dems would NEVER accept, but they did. And now it is making implementation difficult--but not stopping it. I should have made note of that earlier, but was, shall I say, distracted by other things.
Speaking of which, the colonoscopy result was just fine--not so much as a polyp. The balance of this day is dedicated to R&R.
listener--Parents married and daughter born on a full moon? What a nice coincidence! Continued…. 45 hrs in L&D? NOT nice… C-section sounds overdue to me, as if I had a vote in it rather than just being a kibitzer.
Wow, sounds like Spring has real sprung in puddle's neck of the woods! I think you all have earned it!

I sent a little something Renee's way the other evening; don't know the reason, but I don't have to know everything. PayPal says it got there, just hope it's noticed.
Over the River and Through the Woods--C. D. Simak. A few copies available from alibis.com, mostly audiobooks. It must not have sold a lot of copies. I expect I have read some of Simak's stories, but none come to mind right now.
A deliciously warped sense of humor, Susan! The question that immediately comes to mind is how the seatmate reacted when told of the cookie tray!

P.S.: A new test for occult blood in stool is coming into use; a very sensitive immunoassay test specific for human blood, darn near as good (especially if repeated yearly) as a colonoscopy or sigmoidoscopy, even for intestinal polyps. That should result in a lot more people being screened effectively and efficiently, while simultaneously decreasing invasive unpleasantries. Better care, easier, less expensive--what isn't to like?
Howard is certainly my fella! Now and forevah!
ReplyDeleteI think love and light sent Renee's way would be a good thing just now.

Sorry to say at this point I don't think light and love are going to help.

Sunny and in the 60s here. I'd almost believe in Spring if there weren't rumors of snow Thursday.

Looks like it's out of print, which is sort of ironic, since I gather the point of the volume was to put Simak back in circulation.

Alan, of course you're right. We don't need to know why to send love in whatever form. My incurable curiosity and I stand corrected.
DeleteBaby time is getting very close now.
DeleteSuper excited...!
Cat, sent you an email, but from the julie email not the puddleriver one, so it may be in your spam trap. Let me know by responding to it.
