Actually, the fence looks easily repairable in this photo. The truth is there are so many bowing and rotted boards that it falls apart in multiple places on a regular basis. The new fence will be similar, but stronger, a foot taller, and affording a little more privacy.
Plus, the Association pays a little and the rest of the cost is split with our neighbour. That makes it doable. Plus it's made locally by a small company and installed by a local too.
Nancy came down and between the two of us we cleared the culverts, and moved the log to the river downside of the bridge. More she than I (her than me?). Most of it, 'cept for the big log, was a disassembled beaver dam, poor fella. Can't claim they're not industrious even if not great site planners.
AND the telephone guy is supposed to be coming this morning to look at and fix (Lord willing. . . .) the phone line. Since this is a 17 year old problem, they seem to have some idea what goes wrong (I no longer get lectures on checking my outside box, disconnecting and reconnecting all phone lines, or if it's in my house they'll have to charge me because I don't carry their insurance. . . .) Pray.
The weather here was nice today and lovely yesterday. Unfortunately, I missed most of it yesterday. Literally slept all day, not waking til twenty past five. Blah! If it had been rainy/stormy or bloody hot I shouldn't mind so much, but there aren't so many beautiful days that I can afford to squander them.
There was an expert on The News Hour the other day who proved conclusively (as far as I'm concerned anyway) that global warming is real not to say dangerous. But I suppose if you don't want to see, you won't see, no matter how clear it is.
Also do not understand the shooting at the Seik(sp?) temple in Madison. Who would want to hurt Seiks, for Heaven's sake? But one of the guests on The News Hour said something pretty damming of the general intelligence level of Americans. "Turban equals terrorist." I can't argue with that in light of the increase in violence against Seiks since September Eleventh. But it leaves me scratching my head in bewilderment. How did we get to such a pass? As Susan says, no more Social Studies...not much education of any kind as far as I can see. It's terribly disturbing.
I don't know Cat, I never see them, I only see the results, and as of now, it seems a bit improved, but I was hoping for a LOT better, which it's not. Will see. If I don't see a significant difference in a couple of days, I'll call back. Pestiferous generally works. Just takes time.
We waited all day but dearest friend never got a call from her doctor. She did, however, get a call from the surgeon's office saying they've moved her appointment from August 22nd to tomorrow. As you can imagine that gave her the jitters.
No more news on Lary either. Waiting is not the bowl of cherries.
Howard Dean is First because he doesn't stay on the fence!

DeleteHoward's a big slice of peach pie!
ReplyDeleteAnd, listener, holding you in light as you wait this day. Tried posting that on the last thread, but it wasn't taking. . . .
(with vanilla ice cream)
Heh -- didn't see you sneak in there, listener.

The trouble, Cat, is that you're sane. Such events make no sense to a sane mind.

So, Puddle, how'd it go with the telephone guy?

ReplyDeleteSorry it's not what you were hoping for.
