Home from the vet. Despite the fact that Mizzen coughed this morning her lungs are better than last time. In one week we begin to take the kitties off the antibiotic, first Spinnaker then Mizzen. Keep your paws crossed. =^. .^=
My friend meets the surgeon at 11:00am. Pray tuned. {Thank-you.} ♥
As expected, after the surgeon appointment was moved forward two weeks, my dearest friend in all the world has breast cancer. And, as expected, it is Stage 1, thanks to her vigilance in getting mammograms (as her Dad got breast cancer a couple decades ago, requiring a mastectomy). So it looks like she won’t need chemo, and that’s a wonderful thing. She will get through it. It can’t be harder than giving birth and walking a fussy baby every night (she has five children and 17 grandchildren).
It’s easier knowing than waiting to know. Even so, her head is swimming with information overload and just the shock of hearing the word “cancer” to begin with. Thanks for your kind words, prayers and vibes. This isn’t being mentioned in other circles (like Facebook) yet, so it’s a relief for me to be able to say it here. I’m grateful. ♥
I'm sure it's terrifying, but once you know what you have to deal with it cuts down on the scary "what ifs". I have every confidence she'll come through like a champion.
Actually Spinnaker now weighs a tad MORE than a pound more than Mizzen. We hope she's gaining strength all the same. In one week we're to take Spinnaker off he antibiotic; if she stays well, then we're to take Mizzen off. If they start coughing again, they go back on the antibiotic at $40 per bottle. Heh.
Although insurance saves you from having to worry about costs, it almost has to cost a bit more over the long run than you're likely get back. If your dad is in a position to pay the biggest bill he is likely to see, there's no financial advantage to pet insurance.
I'm having a problem with some facebook friends. Nice people. VERY nice people. Who wish to reform the world. Which means, in their minds, *flooding* their pages, and my feed, with the most horrendous pictures. Tortured animals and children, one posts everyday the pictures of cats in her city that are going to be destroyed that night if not adopted. I never know when I sign on if the first picture of the day is going to be a starved dog or one with its head cut off. I love the posters dearly, but am beginning to dread bringing up a facebook page.
I finally unsubscribed from one completely, but now I'm afraid I'll miss something important going on in her life.
Sorry for ranting, especially as I see no solution, but WTH?
If I'm not mistaken, you can right click on the upper corner of the offending style posts and unsubscribe from that type of post. If that's ALL she posts, you won't hear from her. If she posts normal stuff, you may. If that doesn't work, you can switch to seeing "only some" of her posts instead of all. Holler if you can't figure it out. FB change the layout so often, it might take some sleuthing.
I tried "some only" and nothing changed at all that I could see. So I finally unsubscribed. But she's not the ONLY, just the most. I wonder if before posting they'd consider that others might not be having a good day in the first place?
I had one "friend" that posted so often she probably didn't have time to take a dump. And it was all Native American/wolf stuff. Re-posting of pictures, etc. I unfriended her. Nothing wrong with her as a person, I just couldn't take the page after page of stuff she was super hyped on.
Maybe, just maybe they fixed the phone today: as horrible as this morning was, this afternoon's been wonderful. Need to wait for another morning to see for sure (it always does *worse* when it's cool and damp, and it was out right misty/foggy this morning, as well as cool).
=Dr. Dean is most Firstly!=

DeleteI'm sure with all your love and prayers your friend will be just fine.
DeletePraying tuned!
ReplyDeleteMizzen looks like she's cat-ching up!
They sure are sweetie pies!

DeleteI've heard of pet insurance Dad refuses to get it. Can't think why. It would save him a bundle.
DeleteAlso Angel has her own card at Wallgreen's.

DeleteWe can't get pet insurance because they've been sick since birth. :-(

DeleteWait! Don't right-click, just click. There are some options.
DeleteThe same thing happened to my DIL and it's how she ended up taking in Mizzen & Spinnaker and family.

DeleteI understand completely, Puddle. As you say, there's really nothing to be done about it. But that doesn't make it any less distressing.

ReplyDeleteHope the phone situation stays good.
DeleteSpeaking of kitties, I just posted a story about the first cat Demetrius and I owned together here.
