Leaving for Capricon in a couple of hours. Don't expect to see me again before Monday.
Wanted to respond to listener's question on the previous page. My experience in Illinois and surrounding states doesn't suggest that people get tired of political canvassers. Doesn't mean everybody is glad to see us, but it's not because they feel overwhelmed. I understand that people in Iowa ofter do feel that way in the weeks immediately before the caucuses, however, Probably the same in the weeks before the Vermont primary.
I'm not sure about canvassing this year because I don't seem to have the leg stamina I did four years ago. All that walking in Australia took a lot out of my legs and they don't seem to have fully recovered. Probably need to get out and do more walking.
The obvious alternative is phonebanking, but I've always hated calling strangers on the phone. What I'd really like is doing something on my home computer. Such jobs exist, but getting hooked up to them can be tricky.
Bright, sunny, blue and warmish. Tomorrow I get to take the pump to the river and refill the stock tank. First time I've done it all alone. Water mercies, please, lol!
Today, finish emptying said stock tank. (Refilling the water keeper under the kitchen sink, bath water buckets, and doing laundry with any remaining water.)
Beau's almost finished with his decimation of the relatively new green flannel sheets and pillow cases. Do NOT know what his fascination with them is, but it's there, and results in ripping and-or holes. At least I've figured out a fitting way to mend them (have some bear-bear paw fleece that will look just like a design on purpose, lol!
Keeping a food diary, starting today to see what's working and what's not, and when, and how much. Pretty boring stuff, lol!
Got the tank emptied. Not as much as I thought in there, so no baths and no laundry till after the refill. But that 110 gallons lasted from Dec 27 to now. Still: am looking forward to the well come spring\summer.
Only job I was ever fired from was a phone solicitation job. I just couldn't do it. But only got fired because he beat me to the punch ( I quit), by about two seconds. Nevertheless, I bit the bullet and phone banked for Howard. Love is a wonderful thang, lol!
Hallo All! Had another rough night, but a good day. My plan is to get to bed as early as possible tonight because it turns out I have a Big Day tomorrow. I've been asked to swap hours with a coworker so she can take care of her 2 year old grandson, who is home sick from daycare. OF COURSE I want to help with that!! So I'm working 10am to 2pm. Well, 'til 1:45pm actually, because a seeker is meeting me here at 2:00pm. That meeting goes to 3:30pm, then I have to go pick up VT Grand whom we'll have until about 10pm. However! In exchange for all of this, I will have Saturday off and Sunday off too ~ thus two excellent days with Mah*Sweetie!! Staff meeting on Monday morning, or it would have meant three days off for me. But it's still pretty sweet. Just gotta survive tomorrow. :-)
I felt a lot better today. Days are good now; energy's better; a very good sign. But just to be sure I sleep better tonight, I allowed myself to take a dose of Advil Cold & Sinus. If needed, I'll take one more dose of it tomorrow. But I'll be able to sleep in on both Saturday and Sunday and have two relaxing days!! And this virus expires on Monday, right? LOL!
Oh yes, Cat--it was a long time ago that I saw it, but it is a dandy!
Knee continues to improve.
Naomi got a raise, a bonus and a promotion today. Woot!
It dawned on me this morning that one of the Darkover short stories I read last night, that I had a niggling little odd feeling about, has a topical reference (topical from the 1970's) that adds a great joke to the whole thing. People in the future will probably not recognize the reference and therefore miss the joke, just as we miss topical references in works of earlier generations. I refrain from explaining it, certain that explanation would spoil it for any reader. The anthology is Domains of Darkover, and the story is An Object Lesson by Mercedes Lackey.
Ah for the days of Partly Cloudy with a chance of seeing Dean!
ReplyDeleteHoward is still First!
Just got the front page all set up through March 1st! :-)

ReplyDeleteThe job was selling family photos in SLC during the middle of a Kennecott strike. I didn't have the heart, but my boss, the owner could.
