Bill--I'd also think finding qualified or even overqualified folks to take care of accounts payable shouldn't be a big problem with the kind of economic "recovery" we've been having. Then again, if the money isn't coming in, it can't go out; there is a lot of that going around.
I am firmly assured that the money is there. At least for this particular specialized endeavor, which rests on foundation support rather than sales activity by the administering company. But I can't quite shake the feeling that they may implicitly be applying an ethnic hiring criterion -- that just maybe possibly they aren't looking for anyone who is not from India.
Josh (my ex) is Chinese, and the *perfect* handyman -- I used to joke that he has a "grease thumb" -- got most of his side-work at Chinese restaurants NOT because he was the best (which he was), but because he was Chinese. The owners were terrified of being cheated by "whites" ~~
When I lived *in* China, it was very clear that the Chinese would rather deal with the Japanese than with Americans. The Japanese cheated them unmercifully and unethically, but they were comfortable. Go figure.
Cat ~~ I think you misunderstood. We're talking about Americans born in India. And what puddle says about why her ex found it so easy to get sid-work in Chinese restaurants may be relevant.
Am having a good bit of fun learning to cook/eat the Puree Life. I'm thinking about doing a recipe book and offering it to my GI guys to give to their patients, since two of 'em suggested Ensure or Boost when they told me how life was going to be until I resolved the stricture in the esophagus problem. (weeks? months? never?)
Also learning the dance of the eating -- Three tablespoons, then three swallows, then wait. Secret here, I think, is never to get too hungry. Or hungry at all. If you do, you'll push it, and since you're working with a low volume drip system, if you overwhelm it, your delivery will be returned.

Jobs also previously served as chief executive of Pixar Animation Studios; he became a member of the board of directors of The Walt Disney Company in 2006, following the acquisition of Pixar by Disney. He was credited in Toy Story (1995) as an executive producer.
Thanks! I think it was!! The Kids have been in conversation about how to do the holidays. It's looking like we'll have everyone together the weekend before Christmas! :-)
Indeedy! He says the little ones were singing him Happy Birthday all day...especially the littlest, who actually started last week. ;-) He sounded absolutely delighted by it. :-D

ReplyDeleteOuch. No "Buy - or Hire - American," eh? How unpatriotic! Probably cheaper though, in the short run at least.
