After Emma had a jarring episode of pain during the night, today we called our vet to come and Emma died gently in our arms.
At 14.5 years old, Emma is our second-longest-living kitty. (Mittens lived 16.5 years.) Unlike every cat we’ve had before now, Emma Beautiful Cat had a very gentle death. She was so sweet and incredibly soft, and we miss her dearly.
We feel like orphans, yet are going to wait a very long time before considering another cat or two, to allow some ease of travel, and due to economic concerns.
We called Daughter right away, of course, since Emma was originally her kitty.
Thanks so much for the tender vibes, I really think it helped a lot. And if anyone else had said this to me I might have rolled my eyes. But I was holding Emma when she died and I held her for a half hour more. I felt the slight exhale as she died. About 20 minutes later I had a sensation in my arm under her chest as if she were purring. I first thought my arm must be going to sleep. But it persisted. Then, a few minutes later, she suddenly felt incredibly light and I had the thought that her spirit had just left her body.
What if what we really consist of in any solid way is our spirit?
May Emma Beautiful Cat prowl from strength to strength with the Cats in Light! =^. .^=
Marc mowed teh lawn today. And it just struck me that this year we have needed to mow that lawn throughout the summer. Most years the grass is brown and dry by mid-July or early August. (In this household, vegetables get wattered; grass doesn't.)
She was indeed a lovely cat, listener. I think tabbies are the most subtle kind of beautiful there is ~~ and great hearts, too. It takes tremendous courage to let them go when their lives become too difficult *for them*. . . . Rest well -- you dun gud, friend.
Thanks, puddle. Emma was at least half Maine Coon Cat with probably some Tabby mixed in. So she had all the same colours and patterns of a Maine Coon, but shorter fur and smaller tufts. But her fur was super thick and plush. I miss rubbing that silky coat!
Howard is firstimous!
ReplyDeleteBright cool day. Verrrrrrrrrry purty! Great working weather. Hope to do some of that "work" stuff, lol!
ReplyDeleteHey all. Pray me some tender vibes today please. I'll explain later. Thanks. ♥
ReplyDeleteOn it all day long.
ReplyDeleteWill do.
ReplyDeleteHi guys!
ReplyDeleteCheck.
ReplyDeleteWell hello!
ReplyDeleteHi, Cat.
ReplyDeleteStill juggling things. But the work that's supposed to arrive today hasn't yet shown up, so that gives ma a bit of time to catch up on other things.
Always good to have a little unexpected time.
ReplyDeleteToday we said good-bye to Emma Beautiful Cat

My most sincere sympathies. I can only say that your description was moving. And I am glad she had a good death. Best wishes to you and her spirit.

ReplyDeleteThanks, Bill ♥ Much appreciated!

ReplyDeleteSame here, Bill! Though, truth be told, I'd prefer the dry-striped grass to flood zones!

ReplyDeleteDouble click on the photo to see it writ large. This photo is from this morning. ♥
ReplyDeleteI can only get the top inch to load. Many retries, including a reboot.
ReplyDeleteIt's also over at FB. :-)
ReplyDeleteListener, I'm so sorry, yet am glad she died quietly.
ReplyDelete*hug*
Oh, goody. Will go looking!
