There was a mid-moring thunderstorm, which Penny appreciated because it means she doesn't have to water the garden. And today is cooler in general. Which means the predicted high is in teh upper 80s rather than the upper 90s. But be thankful for small favors.
Plenty hot here. We do have air conditioning, but the old collie doesn't know to come in out of the heat. He just sacks out on the ground, panting. I need to remember to go outside, wake him up, and (often) lift him up the stairs.
No air conditioning here. The cats definitely have better appetites than they did yesterday. So do I, for that matter, although I hope to keep off the couple of pounds I've lost over the past week.
Last night's low only got down to 76. Seriously considered leaving the AC on all night, only Vivie loves sitting in her open window, and she's had very little opportunity over the past several days.
It was a recording breaking day with temperatures climbing over 100 degrees! officially, out at the Westover Air Reserve Base, the mercury climbed to 101 shattering the daily record of 97. We also tied the record high for the month of July which is 101.
We caught a little relief this afternoon and evening as dew points fell dramatically. We went from dew points in the 70s this morning to more comfortable levels, into the middle 50s. This will allow things to cool off tonight, unlike last night when overnight lows only fell into the mid and upper 70s. By morning tomorrow it will feel more comfortable with temperatures dipping into the 60s!
However, we have one more hot day tomorrow, in fact the dew points will briefly go up as well so it will once again be a stifling day with temperatures reaching into the middle 90s. There may be brief morning shower but then we'll see a mixture of sunshine and haze.
Finally a cold front will move through tomorrow evening with cooler, drier air for Sunday, In fact, Sunday is looking great! Highs will only reach into the middle 80s and those dew points will once again fall into the 50s. Next week is looking more seasonable and reasonable as well!
Howard Dean is First this sultry night.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't that flower look hot? Funny how our current situation colours our perspective!
Heat index already 102º. I believe I could live without this. Maybe rain tomorrow, though.

ReplyDeleteGot a good solid strong rain. Lotsa blunder, etc. For about an hour. Outside temp now about 73º.
ReplyDeleteI envy your rain, puddle. Would be nice to have some help watering the garden in this heat.
ReplyDeleteSo sad for Norway.
And sad for the USA with all the drama in DC.
Miles to go before I sleep...
"I dag er vi alle norske."
ReplyDeleteThat's Norwegian for:
"Today, we're all Norwegian."
Bill, soooooo glad you're OK! *hug*
ReplyDeletePuddle, thanks so very much♥
BTW the candles don't seem to be working at the moment.
I was thinking, wistfully, that it looked lovely and cool.
ReplyDeleteI'm Norwegian everyday, lol!
ReplyDeleteSounds heavenly!
