Foggy Woodland

  1. Howard's No. 1, ya know?

Definitely, Puddle. Sis and I were discussing it earlier. And, we agreed that he should have waited for Mike Next Door to do the plowing. He doesn't seem to know his limits. Or, maybe he just doesn't want to acknowledge them.

  2. Love the front page pic, listener. It looks like an illustration for a fairy tale or Fantasy story.

  3. Cat, thanks for your good wishes on the last thread.

I appear to have survived what was a small but potent case of food poisoning. I thought I was eating the last of the apple-cherry crisp which I'd made on Monday. In retrospect, however, we finished that off as our son was visiting that day. So this batch must have been at least a week older. Argh! I gotta stop making apple crisp (or start using a Sharpie).

Ah well, live, barf and learn. ;-)

  4. Thanks! If I'd had my wits together this evening, I'd have switched it to a pic from today's storm. Got a bit preoccupied. Heh.

Once I had done what had to be done, and didn't yet know if that was the end of it or just Phase One, Main*Squeeze kindly brought me water and saltines and put Sense & Sensibility on the TV for me. When it began I was still in agony. When it ended I was feeling almost like my old self again.

Off to sleep now and will begin afresh tomorrow. =Whew!=

And thus to bed, later than I should.

Comment on the final paragraph of the Posada story, which reads: According to Kornbluh, “it is poetic justice that the same U.S. Government whose secret agencies created, trained, paid and deployed Posada is finally taking steps to hold him accountable in a court of law for his terrorist crimes.”

Evidence suggests that the US trained Posada as an intelligence operative, not in the covert operations in which he has been engaged for the past decade and a half. but the take-home lesson is basically the same as with Osama bin Laden: The enemy of my enemy today is not necessarily my friend tomorrow.

What do you expect of Republicans? Wisconsin's new Republican governor is crowing about the Illinois income tax increase. He thinks he can lure businesses to Wisconsin by offering them a two-year tax holiday. What he doesn't mention is that at the end of that two years Wisconsin income taxes, both individual and corporate, will still be higher than the new Illinois rates.

My Android tablet came today but, after charging, I can't get it to turn on. I've contacted the namufacturer's tech service to see whether I'm missing something or wehter I got a lemon I need to exchange.

So reading the users manual (loaded on the unit) isn't one of the many things I'll be trying to get done today.

  15. Well, facebook finally did me. And I hate it. I'd finally gotten the old format to where I kinda like it. Now they've hidden stuff I didn't want hidden, and front paged stuff I don't mind being on my profile, but, Jebus, *NOT* right under my name at the top of the page. . . Where I went to college and my relationship status AIN"T the stuff I want in people's faces. . .

On another note, I had some whitefish fillets for dinner, and was moved to laughter by Kroger's assertion that they're chemical free because they're "wild caught". . . Corporate American has NO wisdom, smarts, nor sense of humor.

  20. They've been threatening to do me for a while now, but so far I've escaped. It won't be long now though, I fear.

I don't *want* the new profile. If I wanted the new profile, I'd have gotten the new profile ages ago. But, FB doesn't care. They've decided that everybody's getting the new profile, so everybody's getting it. GRR!

  21. Aw, puddle, don't let it get you down. We'll outlast the new fangled stuff and still get to talk. Nobody takes the FB dudes seriously. I hardly ever see your Info page, as your wall posts show up on my wall feed. It's all good.

  22. BTW, the phone line's been kicking me off all evening. This is the way it always starts, so if I disappear, don't worry, and don't call sheriff Chuck.
