  4. Well, we're up to a balmy 22ยบ! The tub is off the truck, onto a "sled" (don't ask), and been tugged into the woods next to the back of the house (sunporch). It's awaiting an assist to get it up the stairs from my uproad neighbor's beau, tomorrow morning. I got to splat myself onto the ground in the process of pushing the tow. Ah, dignity. . . . Nothing else was hurt.

  7. Hi guys.

Well, Sis, Patty and I had dinner at the Hotel Northampton and then crossed the street to the Calvin Theater. The warm up act was a girl guitarist and singer from Australia who said she'd never played anyplace so cold, outside *or* inside. It was pretty chilly in the theater. I briefly considered putting my coat back on. The girls didn't like her. Her choice of opening number wasn't good, so that didn't make the best first impression, but I thought she was pretty good.

Then Chris came on, and the joint started rockin'. In the second song, "Love Me Tender," he walked off the stage and around the audience. Being in my wheelchair, I was on the aisle, but I motioned for him to reach across and take Sis' hand first. I could practically feel the waves of thrilled happiness rolling off her. I got to take his hand too but the real fun was her excitement. The Calvin is so small that he was able to go all the way back and upstairs before making his way down the other side and back to the stage. For part of the walk about he did "Blue Christmas." He asked for that almost as soon as he past us in the fifth row. So, not only did Sis get to take his hand, but it was while he was singing "Love Me Tender." I think that alone would have made her entire night. But, after the show, she was able to go out back and talk to him before he got on the bus. He gave her a great big hug, which one of the band members caught on film for her, *and* he told her he thought she was cute. She's been waiting since 1989 to see him, so she was excited enough to go to the show, but then to get such a big reception. She's still walking on air. Patty and I were talking while we waited for her, and we agreed that we couldn't remember the last time we saw her so relaxed and happy. The evening would have been worth it just for that.

The show itself was excellent though, and I enjoyed it very much indeed. It was also really nice to be just the three of us, no moms and dads, no husbands, just us girls. Nobody complained about my clapping along, or being enthusiastic and shouting, or anything. Sis commented on how nice that was too. Patty and I didn't tell her she had to stay rooted to her chair and behave in a "ladylike" manner. In fact, before the show started, Patty encouraged her to jump up and down and scream. That made her laugh, since it's not really her style. But I did see her on her feet a couple times when few others were.

She and Patty got some great photos. Those who are on FB should be able to see them from my page. Check out especially The Hug. It's a really cute photo.

  8. Dad and I have to be up and out by the crack of noon tomorrow to go to the dentist. We're both going to have trouble with that, since recently even he has been sleeping the morning away. And it's gonna be COLD. But, I have flannel lined jeans. Hope Dad remembers to wear his flannel lined chinos.

  9. So Eldest*Granddaughter is 4 years old, and quite bright.

Tonight Son*in*Maine wrote: I think I did OK on my impromptu physics quiz. Results pending.
Turns out it was administered by (his daughter) Eldest*Granddaughter.

He explained: Getting out of the car she suddenly stopped and said "What holds the ground together?" I asked what she meant and she said "The ground! Why doesn't it all fall apart?" I replied that gravity holds it together, which then required a detailed definition.

On a roll, she then asked what snowflakes are made of. When I told her that they are frozen water she just laughed and said "No silly! Frozen water is ice!" I told her that snowflakes are made of lots of tiny ice crystals. This engendered the response "So you were wrong! They are made of ice, not water!"

I tried to defend my position, but I think I lost points for lack of clarity.

  12. Going to the dentist in the cold is not my idea of a good chaser after that concert.
But I guess the Universe requires balance.
