Let the sun in!

  1. Hmmm, methinks some ultra Conservative non-think tank has gotten hold of me fellow bloggers' computers. Where'd everybody go? Planting? Reading? Sleeping? I sure hope puddle's line isn't down *again*!

Whatever is going on, one thing is clear: Howard Dean is First!

You could say "sleeping" and not be too far off. Although I've been up enough to do e-mail, read the news feeds, and hang up a load of laundry (second load in the dryer). Oh, and go through this week's "Fictionwise alerts" to see what books I want to order. I let them persuade me to get 11 Rex Stouts at 40% off, although some were at hardback prices before the rebate (which is actually an in-store credit).

And while I was typing this my boss/client contacted me about more work. Doesn't sound like a lot of time pressue. Still, won't give me as much time for catching up and for reading as I'd hoped.

  3. Oh, I've definitely been sleeping. Don't know what's the matter with me today. Just can't get going. Woke up too late for my quilt meeting, did a few chores, went back to bed. Same thing in the afternoon . . . nap. And you know what? I'm heading back to bed again. Hopefully I'll have a little more mojo working tomorrow.

  4. ♥ You are wise to rest when your body tells you to.
You may ward off some virus that way.

Hoping you're in top form soon. ♥

  5. Sounds like life is just a tad busier than you'd like, Bill.
Here's hoping you get time for some of those books!
    :~)

  6. We're supposed to get a hard frost tonight.
We covered what we could, but what about the fruit trees?!

  7. rdorgan posted this link over at the BBB today:

It seems to me that the chemical they're using on the oil spill is making the people in La. ill.

Yes, I got behind when setting up the new computer and new things keep coming in. Sort of keeping up with the new stuff, but some of the things that weren't truly urgent a week or two ago are reaching that status now.

And Saturday we're supposed to be discussing a big chunk of Neil Gaiman's Sandman graphic novel series, but the book hasn't yet arrived on my front porch.

From what I read there, it seems the oil itself is causing problems. Which is hardly news.

  10. Daughter*in*Art*School's job interview today seems to have gone REALLY well! Four one-hour interviews with two people at a time, and by the end the boss was asking her when she could start, when school is out (end of this week I think), whether she would have to move first or could commute for a while (she can), and making notes. Decision promised in 48 hours. Turns out it's a full time job with benefits including health insurance, lunch and dinner even! (She had assumed that it would be a temporary contract job.) ZOUNDS!

I'm still a little tuckered out from working the weekend--didn't get much sleep. So to bed at a reasonable time, and no work this evening. Movie instead.

  12. What I appreciate about that link is that it's what people on the ground are seeing, not just the official word on where the problems are. Folks are posting photos of what they're seeing, too. The accounts of feeling ill may be from the oil itself, but it also matches the symptoms the chemicals can cause. Either way, New Orleans didn't need another major disaster.

  13. What excellent news, Alan! Congrats (I hope) to your Daughter! It's a big deal to go through those long interviews. Good for her!!

My DIL-to-be got a job offer today! If she accepts the job she will be the art teacher for elementary and middle schoolers in a rural town. The one real drawback is the commute, especially in winter. But it's 3 or 4 days per week, which leaves her time to teach at a local art center as well. All good.

  14. That's a good article, Alan! Great that it mentions Howard Dean's contribution.
