Verily! If one were less lazy, one might celebrate Beltane, do a little maypole dancing, and march in the International Workers' Day parade all in one day. BTW, did you know that International Workers Day began in the United States, and commemorates the Haymarket Square Massacre?
"You ain't done nothin' if you ain't been called a Red."
I did know that, Alan. What I miss most on May Day is our family's end of the homeschooling year May Day Festival, to which we invited lots of other home schoolers. It was so much fun for the kids, who got to perform or present, and the parents got to trade stories. All that plus good food and a real may pole. Ah, I miss those days. I still make candles on Candlemas like we used to, but it's difficult to do a may pole by yourself! LOL!
Littlest Granddaughter (age 9 months) has an ear infection, and got a fever of 104.3! The doc gave her antibiotic by injection and she gets to go back on Saturday for another one. But soon she'll be feeling good again. I love the little lass sooo much! ♡
LOL I've been "accused" and it was definitely an accusation of being a socialist fairly often, usually by those who thought that socialism and communism, as practiced by the Soviet Union, were synonymous. They couldn't understand why I would proudly acknowledge having socialist leanings in one breath and, in the next, excoriate the mockery of communism that the Soviet Union had become. I stated confidently that the Soviet Union would fall under its own weight and was laughed at. Well, guess I had the last laugh. Anyhow, just saying...
